Dragon's Dogma was definitely a contender in my book.

I loved Dragon's Dogma... So so much. Which is ironic because I hate Capcom soooooo much. Dragon's Dogma was so good though IMO, that it over-powered my hatred for Capcom and I actually bought the game at retail rather than used. I usually don't like to support Capcom this gen, but if it gets them to produce more games like this, then I'm all for it.

Thats funny cuz i felt the same way. I even bought all dlc to help support this game to see if an expansion or sequel could be made. And it continues because i am gonna have to sell my copy now if i want any money from it because the full game and expansion will be $40 in April...and i cant wait. This game was so good that i overlooked the lacking story, which i am a huge fan of. I love what they will be adding so i cant wait. I only wonder if one of the new enemies is an online enemy with rare loot. And i hope they include a new game + with increased difficulty. I spent all that time getting all the rare loot only to realize there was nothing to use it on.

Reverent4083d ago

Yeah. Personally, I can't wait for a possible PC port. Imagine the mod support a game like this could get.

Love the game... but my character became so powerful. I would love to make monster level up with me or have more hp or become harder to kill. High Bolide a Chimera and 7/8 meteors tend to hit the boss for an insta kill.

I would love to have Dragons Dogma 2 with multiplayer co-op and a bigger world with stronger, harder monsters.

Probably the best game Capcom has churned out recently.

Assassin class is definitely my favorite.

thirtyandnerdy4084d ago

Haha, glad someone agrees! I've talked to people who love it as much as myself, but I've also read a lot of reviews by people who felt it was incredibly bland.

Sharius4084d ago

not mine, the game itself is great in gameplay but the lack of difficulty really hurt the replay value

thirtyandnerdy4084d ago

I totally agree! I thought it was tough in the beginning, especially with as much as the game let's the player explore at their own pace (never knowing what the heck you're gonna run into). But after beating it and downloading the "Hard More" update, I still breeze through the game with a character (and pawns) that are only in their high 60's.

joab7774084d ago

Theres a hardcore update? I didnt know that. I havnt played it through the 2nd time cuz i was waiting for further content hoping the new game plus would have a higher difficulty. Like i said above, i love the online ur and getting rare loot but there was nothing to do with it once u got it. I wonder if get a level raise too or u can just choose 3rd tree os skills. My characters are such a high level.

I had a lot of fun with the game. Little too unpolished I think for game of the year. Excellent entry though. Hopefully, this expansion/new game will be even better.

Dragon's Dogma Is Still Amazing

Although the sequel is on the near horizon, the original Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen remains a fantastic action RPG, still worth playing.

A lot of the quest lines in Skyrim are good(not all and they don’t add up as a whole if you do thieves guild mage fighters guild etc) The dragons are very lame after the first few times and the combat is clunky as it always has been. The stupid sprint button is ridiculous.

Overall I agree DD is the better rpg game.

Both have theirs strengths and weaknesses but Skyrim should be so much more being the 5th game in Elder Scrolls series.

Excited to see what they add on to DD 2.

Unfortunately all they have done to Elder Scrolls since Morrowind is take things out (minus the sprint button which is so lame because you can kill dragon god like creatures but can’t run for more than ten seconds without getting tired)

I liked the vampire questline and the return to Morrowind was okay, but the problem with Skyrim was the lack of consequence. There is almost no point in the quests. After I realized this, I started messing around with the mods and then quit playing. Though, I did spend 300 hrs. on modded content, but this is telling of how bad the game kind of is.

If DD was the size or close to the size of Skyrim, It would have been the primer fantasy game back then. I hope they up the size with DD2.

5 Games To Play While Waiting For Dragon's Dogma II

Daman Shelley from NoobFeed writes - Dragon's Dogma is truly a one-of-a-kind game, and there really is no other game like it, but there are a few that come close. Whether with their fantasy settings, the ability to climb mountains, or just with the overall same charm as Capcom’s iconic RPG. Here's a list of games that will hopefully scratch that Dragon's Dogma itch.

cant wait for it, feb and march are busy busy months ha.

I can still hear the title screen music in my head after nearly 12 years. Loved every minute of it.

MrNinosan94d ago

I have no issues filling my time til DD2.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Infinite Wealth and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will probably me more than enough.
More terrified I won't be done in time.

DivineHand12594d ago

Try not to burn yourself out before the game releases. This is going to be a long and immersive RPG like the first one.

The games in this article are all great and I believe the people who are excited for Dragons Dogma 2 probably already played most of those games.

For now, I recommend you prepare yourself for long play sessions if you will be picking up Dragons Dogma at launch.
