5 Questions and Concerns About Aliens: Colonial Marines

GameSpy - Next week, Gearbox's long-awaited Aliens: Colonial Marines arrives at last, and it's a challenge to not get swept up in the excitement around a game based in the legendary Aliens universe by a developer that's still hot off the release of a great game. That's why, in our Questions & Concerns feature, we're taking a deliberately skeptical look at what we know about Aliens: Colonial Marines -- and what we don't -- to make sure you can see past the hype. We hope none of this stuff ends up being a problem, and it's still way too early to declare it a good game or a bad game, but you'll definitely want to read this before you preorder.

got it this morning, you will be spending time fighting getting thru doors on coop, 4 players is way too much, shared ammo and health pack and armor makes it less of a survival or coop horror. the black and white screen is annoying if a player runs to a checkpoint, video clips can lag, the game is not as good as made out to be i doubt u will play it twice. the aliens has low physics. also feels last gen with hd gfx.

I have also had the game for a while now, and only played sp.

But I also didn't understand how it would work well with 4 players when playing it.

They should have focused on making a dedicated sp campaign or maybe only 2 player coop in my opinion. It just isn't as scary with so many players.

Yeah the game fells a bit old school, and I'm ok with the health and armour pick ups instead of regenerating health. It's the uneven graphics and performance that lets the game down. Character animations are pretty bad for some charcters.

It's disappointing that it's so unpolished.

It is not a good game.
It is finished but feels highly unpolished with very dated graphics (we are talking 2006 dated),forgetable sound effects,a very uninteresting storyline which to make matters worse is presented in a very confusing way, forgetable characters and cluncky gameplay.
Give it a rental only if you are a fan.

Indeed! The game is horrible by today standards,in every aspects!I played i didnt belive that was so crap my self, and unfinished, unpolished game in every sense of the words,i was not expecting this kind of crap from GeaRBOX,its worst than DN!Get AvP that is a much better game in every way!

Yeah it's sad they have relegated the story to an unimportant background noise. It's just an excuse for a long run chase game where nothing very interesting happens.

I think it's because of the focus on 4 player coop that the game turned out this way.

I love the guns though. Especially when upgraded they are fun...

wow i got the collecters edition and i have been waiting for a game like this since i saw aliens as a kid. I hope you guys are wrong about how terrible it is, from what ive seen it doesnt look as bad as you guys make it sound to be but ill see on tuesday

Sighs, I had high hopes for this game..So disappointing..

Gearbox should just stick to Borderlands and never take on serious franchises like this.

i love the alien universe so i'll get it anyways. Not every game must be a 9.8 out of 10 for me to enjoy. Not that we even really know the quality yet.

The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.

The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.

Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.

I still play AvP on PS3 to this day. That game had fun multiplayer too.
