PS4: 10 Announcements That Sony Won’t Make On February 20th

"It's that time ladies and gents, when all our rumours of next generation hardware may actually get put to rest by an official announcement. Sony have cryptically told us that we'll “see the future” of the Playstation brand on the 20th of February, corroborating this with a typically abstract video telling us the same. The media giant are holding an event for investors and the press on said date and, as these functions normally cost a hell of a lot of cash, it's unlikely Sony are just putting this on for fun. The evidence is mounting that Sony are preparing to reveal the PS4 officially on the 20th and, assuming this is true, we're going to get a lot of concrete info coming our way on the next generation of gaming. That said, Sony won't be playing all their cards just yet, so here are ten things the Playstation fore-fathers won't be letting us in on right away."

I think they're going to show the controller design. If rumors are true, it could be a huge selling point of the Ps4.

They would definitely not say the price. It'd be way too soon. They're going to play the cat-and-mouse game with MS on that. As far as games go I don't think they're going to show more than a few tech demos. Games need to be saved for E3.

I think they will at least give us some indication of online services (like Gaikai)
I also think they will give us a peak of what games are coming (probably through a montage)
THey will definantly show off tech demos
I would say they are saving price for E3 and launch date
I also think we will get to see the controller (hopefully with better R2 and L2 buttons and a more ergonomic handles)

changes to the controller, but i don't see them totally change the legendary controller. IT will be called Dual Shock 4, but i do see them making big improvements

I can't wait for the PS4 but this genuinely made me laugh out loud, very well done! I personally wouldn't use it I immediately silence everyone when it comes to online, so I can't see why I'd want to talk to anyone while on single player, I can see why some would though.

Much of what the article speculates on what will not be announced, it would be true to say all of the 10 reasons are elementary at best.

Obviously....

They will need to retain much of the information for more traditional and bigger events.

But see, at this stage..I don't care what they show...I just need to know the basic spec and some sort of time scale will do me just fine :)

I think this show will only be about revealing what the PS4 looks like (including the controller), a few game videos/tech demos, and a confirmation of a "fall 2013" release for NA and JP, with the EU in 2014 (although I wish it was 2013 for Europe...).

Any specifics aren't likely to be announced until E3 imo.

It could be beneficial in multiplayer games, but I couldn't be partied up with somebody playing different games or watching Netflix(which I've been told happens quite often). At the same time, though, using party chat instead of in-game communications means you won't be working well with your team unless everybody on your team is in on it.

It's a double-edged sword in that way.

Besides, I've run into some hilarious conversations I would have missed out on if I'd had party chat, instead.

I'm not going to make anymore mistake this time and get a Sony PS4 with the largest capacity HDD.

It's my way of future-proofing so I don't have to worry about the lack of space when it comes to game saving.

Really excited about how the new control pad would look and also want to know what the confirmed prices would be.

And finally what new features the PS4 has in store for their fans.

So...how disappointed would you guys be if that'd announce an SKU without HDD requirements? It will come with one, no doubt, but I strongly expect a version without (or with flash memory). The 12GB PS3 was probably a testbed for that. I'd think games will be able to fully run off the new BD drive and thus a HDD will not be the absolute requirement.

Of course, same as with PS3, it'll have a slot and upgrade at will, and it'll be necessary for downloading games. But get the price down, I'd expect a version without HDD. Which is quite alright if they design that in from the beginning.

Flash memory will probably necessary to sell PSN, which probably is where Sony's bread and butter will be coming from in the future (PSN+ was a huge success, they will build on that for sure). But a base of 16GB or 32GB would probably be cheap and get you going.

Ha, 160 GB HDD is dirt cheap. The next gen systems won't launch with anything less than that.

I think they will show what it looks like, it's specs (i hope), the controller and mostly the price and SKUs.

We'll definitely get to see what the actual system looks like, we'll definitely see the controller and whatever this rumored camera peripheral is. For games we'll probably see what Guerrilla Games, Sucker Punch and Media Molecule have been working on. Hopefully some third party presence as well, and I think they'll talk briefly about some new services and features coming to PlayStation Network next-gen.

Anything beyond that, is probably wishful thinking. I'd bet they're saving their big guns (Uncharted 4 and Gran Turismo 6) for E3.

I think they will actually say quite a few of these things. The launch line-up prob won't be anything amazing. They might show off KZ4 or Sony Santa Monica's new IP but at the very least they'll tell us the studios who are working on games and the names of titles we can expect from 3rd party devs(they announced a KH game on the day 3DS was announced but nothing specific about it)
