Dead Space 3 Review: Good, But More Shooty Than Scary | GameFront

GameFront: "The trouble is that, stapled onto what is a good game at the core, are a number of mishandled features that don’t add anything and occasionally detract from the experience. Co-op is a take-it-or-leave-it gesture that is only sometimes really interesting (in some missions, Carver hallucinates things the player controlling Isaac can’t see at all), but crafting can get fun, and many of the missions and a lot of the lore are stellar reasons to play the game. It is a fun time, despite a few failings."

So it basically lost what made it special? Yep, seems about right. This seems as if it's becoming a trend, RE6, DmC, and now DS3? Nice... I'll be here playing Super Nintendo games while waiting for gaming to become good again lol. (joking of course, this generation has had some gems, but this is getting ridiculous lately.)

Root4088d ago

I love how the more honest reviews are coming out now, first a wave of amazing reviews then after IGN giving it a lower score then expected everyone are being honest with it

Good for them, you don't ruin a franchise then give it a good score, if it doesn't hold up to past games then it's bad...it's took a step back

Roccetarius4088d ago

Yeah, i was just waiting for the actual reviews to come. There isn't much trust in handshaking and goodie bags.

MEsoJD4088d ago

The game isn't that big of departure from 2 and frankly I thought 2 was much better than the original. I really never understood why people thought it was scary/horror... it had good atmosphere, but with the tools at your disposal, it's very hard for me to feel fear.
I say it's a Suspenseful Sci-Fi/Action to be accurate(that goes for the whole series).

MikeMyers4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Root,
How can anyone take your opinion seriously when it's all over the map? Let's not acknowledge favorable reviews until a big site like IGN rates it lower but in the case with DMC none of the reviews count because of how they review it.

Face it Root, you'll find any reason to support your own argument. If you don't like the game then don't buy it. I don't get why you have to keep saying the same things over and over again. Do you go to Justin Bieber's website to complain how his music doesn't suit your tastes?

I've never seen anyone as committed as you to get your point across. Even to the point of creating multiple accounts even though you post on here WELL above the average user. Has this hobby of yours turned into a full-time job?

Root4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

No one cares Mike

Stop trolling please, this is like the 30th immature comment towards me....it's getting sad now. If it doesn't relate to the article then it's an off topic comment

I love how you get so worked up over someones opinion, seriously let it go man. Not everyone is going to have the same opinion as you

"Has this hobby of yours turned into a full-time job"

Has your's....bashing peoples opinions down and commenting on nearly everyone single comment of users who don't agree with you

Multiple Accounts....LOL

Making crap up are we...

EDIT:

Mines not off topic because it's about the article and a REPLY to the comment above. Yours is just nonsense because your having a cry because someone isn't agreeing with you again.

Please...just drop it.

The difference between you and me is that despite not liking someones opinion I don't reply to them, get worked up and say how their opinion dosen't matter or wrong like what you do.

How many comments have I made towards you directly....none. How many have you towards me.....A LOT thus proving my point that you can't let people with different opinions have their say.

Goodbye

MikeMyers4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

"If it doesn't relate to the article then it's an off topic comment"

It's no more off-topic than your earlier comment about IGN giving it a low review and suggesting reviews before that don't count.

"I love how you get so worked up over someones opinion, seriously let it go man. Not everyone is going to have the same opinion as you"

NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY gets worked up as much as you. You talk and talk and talk and call people PR spokesmen or suck-ups that like games you want to fail. So if that isn't immature I don't know what is.

As for suggesting not everyone has to have to same opinion, that's right. So to suggest favorable reviews should be ignored or attacking forum members for liking games you don't totally contradicts your own advice once again.

MikeMyers4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Root,
"bashing peoples opinions down and commenting on nearly everyone single comment of users who don't agree with you"

I keep asking you to show me this but you provide no proof of me actually doing that.

http://n4g.com/news/1166689...

That's you calling someone a PR guy for liking the demo for Dead Space 3. See, I show proof, you do not.

Root,
"Multiple Accounts....LOL
Making crap up are we..."

http://n4g.com/user/blogpos...

This is you arguing with a moderator. He mentions how YOU continued an argument into another topic while going off-topic in the process and calling him/her an immature troll in the process. Then the moderator says this:

"Root we know this isn't your first offense. We're just tired of dealing with all of your accounts."

See, I provide proof, you speculate and deflect.

Root,
"Mines not off topic because it's about the article and a REPLY to the comment above."

No it's not. You mention previous reviews and how inaccurate they were until IGN gave it a lesser score. Which leads to more accusations with no merit just because you want this game to fail. Just like you did with DMC and said those reviews were all part of some conspiracy theory which could only be the reason why it got such high reviews. So me mentioning that is just as on-topic as you talking about previous reviews for this game. It's all to show how credible you really are. Or in this case, aren't.

Root,
"The difference between you and me is that despite not liking someones opinion I don't reply to them, get worked up and say how their opinion dosen't matter or wrong like what you do."

I already provided proof that you do. You also called someone a suck-up for liking a game you didn't.

Root,
"How many comments have I made towards you directly....none. How many have you towards me.....A LOT thus proving my point that you can't let people with different opinions have their say."

http://n4g.com/news/1164845...

You followed me into that topic to make a remark. See, I provide proof. Your best option now is to put me on ignore before you embarrass yourself any further. At least that way you won't look as bad trying to do damage control.

Have a nice day.

Root4088d ago (Edited 4088d ago )

Why are you keep bringing that post up, I've spoke to cgoodno and it's non of your bussiness about what happened in that convo

The fact that I'm still here tells you thought that it was just one huge miunderstanding, as Nineballs ban me when I first joined then un ban me a few days later because he thought I was some user called CELL1 or C3LL1...something like that. Cgoodno didn't get the memo and thats why he said it, I talked to him, it's now over.

Stop trying to make your arguments valid by using such low tactics to make me look bad

Desperate much

I think that was what some people were worried about, them taking away the scariness of it. I'll play it soon and make my own judgements. I don't go off of just demo's. I've seen enough movie trailers to know they are aimed to get your attention and don't really tell the full story.

chukamachine4088d ago

I'm playing it atm, it's very good.

As for DMC, it's better then the others imo, maybe because it's missing the Japanese feel. I don't really dig there style.

Why Dead Space 3 Will Be the Hardest to Remake

If EA and Motive Studio plan on remaking all the main Dead Space entries, they have to change a lot of what made Dead Space 3 so divisive.

Simple, do not bother with a Dead Space 3 remake. Rather have a new entry for Dead Space.

myfathersbastard409d ago

Yeah I agree. Make a dead space 3, but have an original story/setting. They’ve proven they can do the game justice, and I think they could evolve 2 in a good direction, keeping a similar tone. I’d love s Dead Space 2 and 3 though. The remake was fantastic. Top tier remake, up there with RE2.

jznrpg409d ago

Remaking 3 would need to be a reworked and somewhat changed remake as 3 was flawed in most peoples eyes and the worst entry.

Ninver409d ago

It's the worst in the series.

Dead Space 3, A Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol:

"Was Dead Space 3 really that bad?

Well, it’s a complicated question. Dead Space 3 is undeniably the weakest of the trilogy. It’s a game that deviates so far from the original formula, that it throws a lot of what made Dead Space special in the first place out of the window. Although, where it does make up for it is one of the best cooperative shooters on the market, even after all this time. Do I recommend playing this game ten years later? Hell yes. But make sure your expectations are in the right place. It has a lot of problems that bring it down."
