Sony: “MLB 13: The Show Will Not be a Part of the Cross-Buy Program”

When Amazon began running their promotion for MLB 13: The Show that sees you receiving $20 off if you buy both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game, it was pretty much confirmation that the upcoming baseball game wouldn’t include Cross Buy.

No big surprise there. Each version has always been treated as its own franchise.

I don't think that's entirely it. It probably has every bit to do w/ Licensing. Each copy would count as two sales doubling what SCE pays MLB. At least I'd imagine MLB sees a piece of the pie for each game sold. Because of that it would be impossible for Sony to offer Cross Buy w/o taking a pounding on this franchise financially...

I have to admit though. Having MLB Cross Buy would be great to see. It seems I never get as much time as I'd like in w/ MLB but w/ Cross Buy it would definitely not only give me the incentive to buy more often but know that I'll actually get the game time in to warrant buying it. I'd even consider a $70 Special Edition that offers Cross Buy if $ [Royalties] were the issue.

Wait... so, you were only buying the game because you got a copy of it on another platform?

That makes, literally, no sense. A nice incentive, but hardly a reason to buy a game. You either want the game or you don't.

Yes and no I would love to be able to play on my ps3 and when im on the go play on my vita with cloud saving would be amazing.

I like The Show, but I wasn't sure about buying this year's since I already have last year's. If it were cross buy, then I would, but it's not. So...

Well...I'll just be getting the Vita version then. :/ I wanted to play both though!!! The only difference between the PS3 and Vita version last year was 3D...which is actually VERY good on The Show.

So, maybe I'll get the PS3 version used when it comes into my store.

If you plan on getting the PS3 version used, why not pick up the PS3 and Vita version at the same time? It's 80 for the both of them when you get them together, instead of being 100 dollars, or close to 90 dollars for a new copy of Mlb 13 for the Vita and a used copy for the Ps3.

Don't forget about the online pass if you want to play online with the PS3 version. That is not included in the price I gave with a new and used copy of the game.

A new copy of MLB 13 is going to be $35 on the PSN when it comes out. A used copy on the PS3 is $32 for me. I work at a place that sells games MUCH cheaper than GameStop. ;)

The online pass will come in, I assure you. Not everyone uses it. I have online passes for all of my games and most of them I have bought used.

Well I'm happy it isn't because this way a vita game actually makes money for Sony and co because when you buy the cross but they only give away the vita no money earned but don't get me wrong I love free games but 80 for two games that's not bad....IMHO

Vita needs the boost and most of my friends bought a vita for the cross buy mlb the show.

Knowing my friends, they'll just keep playing mlb the show 12 and skip mlb the show 13.

I have 12 on the Vita and am enjoying it immensely.

I would have bought the PS3 version for the Vita version of 13, but I may not get either now. Two for the price of one is hard to pass up, but there are plenty of other games higher up on my priority list.

and unfortunately it seems they wont fix the constant crashing (black screen ) on 12. makes me regret buying if for 10$.

if they do abondon 12 in its current state. ill be sure to pickup 13 when it drops to 10$, or purchase it used from gamefly
