Yeah, I'm with unpronounceable name up there. Shoehorned-in multiplayer helps nobody, and forcing the player to play it to increase their Galactic Readiness rating in Mass Effect 3 really soured the experience for me.
Just to point out something, Mass Effect 3's multiplayer is not competitive, it's cooperative. There is a difference between the two.
