Ubisoft Have Extremely Strong Q3, With Assassin’s Creed III Shipping 12 Million Units

Assassin’s Creed III was a “record-breaker” shipping 12 million units – which is a 70% increase over Revelations, whilst Far Cry 3 also did exceedingly well shipping 4.5 million units – a figure considered to be much higher than expected. Just Dance 4 also managed to ship 8 million units.

You could probably give the first one a miss, just watch youtube videos to get the story. Start with AC2

Yeah, some are better than others, but it's worth checking out. I didn't really like the 1st one that much, but thought 2 was amazing. I have them all, but haven't finished them all yet. I recommend beginning with AC2.

EDIT: I posted at the same time as WilliamH, so I didn't see his recommendation for beginning with AC2... so that's two recommendations for AC2 without any influence.

Those are some impressive numbers for AC3. I am getting kinda burned out on the series though. Maybe next gen it will feel fresher with better (tighter) gameplay, and sharper visuals.

borderlands 2, XCOM and bioshock: infinite and GTA 5 all crammed in a one year time period is pretty impressive. On top of that they have way less DLC and slap-on software(Uplay, Origin,...) bullish*t than the other publishers.

I didn't think AC III was as great as it could have been, but I still liked it. Far Cry 3, on the other hand, turned out to be fantastic, and it wasn't even on my radar until the positive reviews started pouring in. Glad it sold well.

yeah, it's really a great game. I still don't get how the quality could be so disparate though. On one hand there was the great acting and writing in the villains, and then there's jason brody... And a LOT of story non-sense... And there's a great gameplay, and some of the best linear FPS missions in a while, despite being an open world game. and then there's the final "boss"... I wonder what happened there.

Wow, impressive. I think they really advertised AC3 well because I actually had family/friends who don't game (but know I do) ask me if I tried it. My 60-year-old mother even said to me "that new game with an assassin it looks like it would be good." (!) And my mom doesn't really play games.

Well done Ubisoft, well done. Impressive results. With Rayman Legends coming to all HD consoles, 2013 is looking bright for Ubi.

SONY should consider going multiplatform on their software. Hear me out before you lynch me. They make such great games but their hardware production is a money blackhole. I mean they made $6 million during the festive season!
