It's widely rumoured that the upcoming PlayStation Meeting will be focused on the announcement of Sony's next console, likely the PlayStation 4. TheSixthAxis' Kris takes a look at why he's not all that excited at the prospect.
Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
I'm looking forward to it, but I agree. I get far more interested and excited over new games and IP. It'd be nice if the Sony event on the 20th showcased some new games we could expect on the PS4, but I doubt it'll do much more than you've said - show off some tech demos.
"Why The PlayStation Meeting Doesn’t Have Me Excited"
Party Pooper.
think of the PS4 reveal as step one, step two being the games, the reason I'll be getting a PS4 is for the games (obviously). Just curious how many existing franchises will be amongst the next-gen revealing & how mahy new IP's will also be amongst them.
Expecting fairly few games if any at all on the 20th, I think that's what Sony will have E3 focused on, we'll likely see game teasers & console tech videos showing us some of the fancy new perks.
just a little while left to wait, Truly excited for this!.
Well since the teaser said See the Future, im expecting to see new psvita game announcements, Gaikai and of course the ps4.
Suit yourself! Im highly excited and wont be a bit disappointed if instead of Ps4 they show what theyve been doing with Gakai. Either one for me is the future of the Sony brand and they go hand in hand so im excited.
This gen of consoles has gone too too long and im dying to see some new information. Once that information is revealed and i can drop a hundred or so on a pre order ill be happy and waiting as i play killer games like TLOU, GOW Asc and Beyond as i kill the time.
i just farted.
