Have a Dead Space 2 Save File? The Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter is Unlocked in Dead Space 3

It was announced last month that anyone who had a Mass Effect 3 save file on their hard drive would immediately be given access to the N7 armor once they boot up Dead Space 3 starting on February 5th. Continuing with this, it has just been revealed that anyone with a Dead Space 2 save file will have the Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter unlocked as soon as you reach the first bench.

They should of had a DS1 save option to unlock "scare" factor this game is missing.

Root4095d ago

Lol

Knowing EA we would of had to pay for it as DLC

Slapshot824095d ago

The problem is - Dead Space 3 doesn't look like something I'm terribly interested in. I absolutely loved the first two, as well as the iOS game and Extraction, but this just isn't looking like it's going to fit my personal appeal.

flyingmunky4095d ago

If you got enjoyment out of extraction and an iOS game then I don't see how you could not like part 3.

Why is so popular to hate on this game? Everyone seems to be falling over themselves to declare how its not 'scary' and how they were the ones to hated the series first.

Why? Just because EA gave the OPTION for buying a bunch of crap online to enhance the game for n00bs, lazeos, and fools. Because they want their game to appeal to a wider audience for more to enjoy(and buy)?

I'm still going to buy it.

dirthurts4095d ago

It's popular to hate change.
I'm all for something new. I'll be more than happy to enjoy myself while others miss out.

Donnieboi4095d ago

I didn't know EA reps had n4g accounts....

Seraphim4095d ago

I'm not a fan of trying to appeal to everyone. It's just not possible. I'm also not a fan of trying to appeal to a larger audience by sacrificing parts that have made something great. simple fact of the matter is either people will buy it or they will not. The only real thing that might deter someone from buying a game is the difficulty and inability to play on an easier setting. I guess fortunately enough I've failed to keep up w/ news on DS3 so I'll let the game speak for itself. I can give two .... whether it's scary or not. If it plays great, brings the same level of entertainment as the first two I'll be happy. I just want a solid game that's fun to play. Then again at the same time if I don't get one time that I jump out of my seat I might be slightly disappointed but not to the point I'd regret buying it. Pre-Ordered tonight, will play when i get to it....

Slapshot824093d ago

It's actually pretty simple - I don't have time for co-op games.

I made it perfectly clear that I was solely speaking for myself and I was in no way "hating" on Dead Space 3. Thanks for taking my words out of context!

I love the first 2 and think some of the decisions of this game are not that great. But I will still enjoy renting it or buying it for cheap someday. If I buy another dead space game it will probably be the first one.

Im sure the gameplay will still be good even if it is full of more explosions and less scary atmosphere and ammo everywhere with the option to buy more with real money, but it will still be worth a rent or borrow if you liked the other DS games im sure. I may actually buy a game used for once since this has an online pass and I dont care about whatever crap multiplayer they shove in.

dbjj120884095d ago

Well, PS3 it is. I wish I had just kept with Dead Space on the Xbox though. My ME3 saves are there.

konnerbllb4095d ago

It's just a weapon you get at the first bench. You will be able to craft custom weapons shortly after making it irrelevant. Purchase the game for whichever platform you prefer.

Wedge194095d ago

You can also find all of the parts in order to make the equivalent of the Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter very quickly within the game.

rezzah4095d ago

Lame I lost my file on my bro's PS3. Something happened and all saves on that PS3 were deleted.

He was lucky since he had PSN+ cloud save.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel9d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel8d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia8d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda8d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long8d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto8d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long8d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?

13 Years Later, Dead Space 2 Is Still A Perfect Video Game

Nameer from eXputer: "Dead Space 2 is a sequel that delivers such a feast that by the time you're done, you're not only full but also satisfied."

Aaroncls728d ago

It was amazing. All 3 DS games game solid for me, but 2 was special.

hombreacabado28d ago

i can do without ds3 but the first two are solid.

mariopasta28d ago

Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection

Terry_B28d ago

thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.

I had no idea that Bad Company 2 was still running, and only now that I know, I want to jump on! 😥

SonyStyled131d ago

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

DaReapa131d ago

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

Inverno130d ago

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

1nsomniac130d ago (Edited 130d ago )

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

anast130d ago

Once people stop buying micros, these companies close the doors.

Xenial130d ago

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
