Digitally Downloaded sat down with Tadanobu Inoue, GUST Producer and Executive Director, to talk about the Atelier series, developing on the PlayStation platform, and the future of the JRPG.
Oh, and the possibility of a Dead or Alive RPG.
Bandai Namco filed a trademark for “God Eater Resurrection” in Japan on May 28, which went public today.
Additionally, Gust Corporation filed trademarks for “Atelier Sophia” and “The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book” on May 20. Both also went public today.
Digitally Downloaded writes: "Japanese game development favourite, GUST, has been shut up as a business as part of Koei Tecmo's acquisition of the company. But don't worry, the GUST developers will continue to do what they have always been doing - it's just that they'll be doing it as a more formal part of Koei Tecmo going forward."
Koei Tecmo announced today with a press release that a merger with its former subsidiary Gust, developer of the Atelier series and of the upcoming Ar Nosurge, will be executed on October 1st
Here i am hoping if by even a little strand of miracle they would port a localized FATAL FRAME V for the PS4/Xbox, godh how i miss that game.
To be honest Koei Tecmo really needed this, it's time for them to become a bigger factor in japanese gaming because the past years they've been pretty much irrelevant.
GUST is very underrated when it comes to JRPGs cause they follow their own philosophy in the genre. Their games on the PS2 were absolutely fantastic. The AR Tonelico & Atelier games had simple concepts but had enough going for them to keep them fresh in the eyes of JRPG players.
So glad they have not deviated from how they make games even when they were acquired by Tecmo Koei. The Arland Atelier games were great & Ayesha from what i have read is another successful game for them. Also it is nice to hear that they will support the Vita despite all the hardships it is going through currently. Making great games is important to them & for that they deserve support.
Still i hope they consider continuing the AR Tonelico series even though supposedly the story has ended.
Hopefully Monolith will save the JRPG genre, they said that was their goal, to influence other Japanese developers.
