GUST is very underrated when it comes to JRPGs cause they follow their own philosophy in the genre. Their games on the PS2 were absolutely fantastic. The AR Tonelico & Atelier games had simple concepts but had enough going for them to keep them fresh in the eyes of JRPG players.

So glad they have not deviated from how they make games even when they were acquired by Tecmo Koei. The Arland Atelier games were great & Ayesha from what i have read is another successful game for them. Also it is nice to hear that they will support the Vita despite all the hardships it is going through currently. Making great games is important to them & for that they deserve support.

Still i hope they consider continuing the AR Tonelico series even though supposedly the story has ended.

They can make the AR Tonelico a different world and story like the Atelier series.

MattS4101d ago

Based on the responses to the interview it seems unlikely that the Ar tonelico series will continue.

Besides, it would be awesome if GUST took a crack at doing something different and kicking off a new franchise. :D

Yeah it was wishful thinking. However i hear that Ciel no Surge is from the same creator & sort of a spiritual alternative version of AR Tonelico.

Too bad the game is like a visual novel more than an actual game so the likely hood of it coming over here is nil.

I like the idea of them lending their talents to other games like Neptunia. That whole trio of GUST, Compile Heart, & NIS on creating a game with their ideas. More companies need to collaborate on projects.

Hopefully Monolith will save the JRPG genre, they said that was their goal, to influence other Japanese developers.

I can assure you Gust games won't be influenced by recent Monolith JRPGs, and that's a good thing.

GUST closes up shop (but don't worry, GUST still exists)

Digitally Downloaded writes: "Japanese game development favourite, GUST, has been shut up as a business as part of Koei Tecmo's acquisition of the company. But don't worry, the GUST developers will continue to do what they have always been doing - it's just that they'll be doing it as a more formal part of Koei Tecmo going forward."

Nice merger in my opinion people.

rextraordinaire3556d ago

If it means more budget for atelier games, this is awesome.

Here i am hoping if by even a little strand of miracle they would port a localized FATAL FRAME V for the PS4/Xbox, godh how i miss that game.

KonsoruMasuta3556d ago (Edited 3556d ago )

Not happening it's funded and co-developed by Nintendo.

They own partial rights to all the Fatal Frame games they help fund and publish.

Well, all but Spirit Camera. I think they own the majority, if not all, of the the rights to that game.

mydyingparadiselost3556d ago

You could always pick up a Wii U after localization is announced :D

MrSwankSinatra3556d ago

To be honest Koei Tecmo really needed this, it's time for them to become a bigger factor in japanese gaming because the past years they've been pretty much irrelevant.

HonestDragon3556d ago

Interesting. I wonder how this merger will go.
