DmC Devil May Cry May Have Failed To Attract Casual Fans In Japan

Siliconera - DmC Devil May Cry was released in Japan last week and sold 110,429 copies on the PlayStation 3. The Xbox 360 version of the game wasn’t featured in the top-20 sales ranking, but sales tracker, Media Create, report that it sold approximately 6,000 copies.

I think it is the other way around, the hardcore are giving this a pass, my 10 year old nephew is bragging to me he finished the game 3 times already, and he only barely finished just 2 games before that.

DevilVergilX4106d ago

Makes sense since this is a causal game. I am see people who are bad Horrible at the game beat son of sparda in one sitting...

Kur04106d ago

You let a 10 year old play a game with a butt naked emo guy with a potty mouth and with a brother that kills pregnant women?

jhonka4106d ago

I think I was that same age when I played the original DMC. Plus, I think DmC's still better than letting a kid play Grand Theft Auto.

Pozzle4105d ago

To be fair, it's newmonday's nephew so he/she probably doesn't have a lot of say when it comes to what games the parents buy for their kid.

NewMonday4105d ago

I warned his parents many times but they don't care, they say it is not my business.

I lol hard at 6000 copies for the 360. Not bashing the 360 or anything though but CoD sell a lot more on 360 there than this and Japanese aren't even interested in FPS to begin with!

It's an ok game. Just not the DMC game I wanted to play. If they continue with this version of Dante I probably won't play Devil May Cry ever again.

Kyosuke_Sanada4106d ago

It's a reason why they have classic Dante on Project X Zone....

yami9304105d ago

Which makes me confused as to why that game can have classic Dante and not Playstation All Stars

ShaunCameron4106d ago

Casual? I didn't find anything "casual" about the demo.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC4d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer4d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya4d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde4d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP3d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.
