Five Things The Wind Waker Remake Needs To Make Me Buy It All Over Again

I woke up early yesterday morning. Reached for my phone, checked the site, saw the news that Wind Waker was being remade for the Wii U, laughed, thought it was a dream then went back to sleep. It's only a couple of hours later, when I woke up again and noticed it was still there, that I realized the news was true.

I think i'll trust Nintendo and going off the graphics it looks awesome.

I( prefer a more tales of vesperia/windwaker cell shaded type graphics as opposed to Yoshi's Island Wii U

How about new content. No one has played the yet anmade new content yet. And yes, u can make it look better without compromising the art style. I am playing ni no kuni and it is gorgeous. And believe it or not, it takes power to run games like kingdoms of amalur. It aould be simply stunning on next gen consoles. But the one way to make sure ppl buy it is to offer new content.

I've finished Windwaker 4 times Since I bought it , One of which was mid 2012. Regardless I am still really happy to be playing an overhauled version , which hopefully has more than Just graphics to refresh the overall experience.

I have the original Collectors Edition Windwaker from Day which has Ocarina/Masterquest on it. But that didn't stop me from buying Ocarina 3D and putting 124 hours into that and the same Applies to Windwaker reborn.

@Kaibatsu - You serious ? It looks 10 times nicer than the original Windwaker , and people still complain , lol. If you don't like it stick to the old Windwaker.

Ocarina 3D looks much better than the original Ocarina and no doubt this will be a similar upgrade.

It looks good. But the Gamecube version had more of a cartoonish look on the CHARACTERS. It also seems like they added some shaders they had in mario galaxy.

I absolutely love this game, but in this version the cartoonish look has been severely altered by the softer shadows.

Getting it non the less.

I have mixed feelings on the screenshots so far. While the environments look great and are an improvement over the original (in my opinion), the character models have lost some of their charm. Ninty still has several months to tweak the engine though, so fingers crossed and either way, it's going to be pretty epic.

They overhauled the graphics. They look amazing, but I truthfully would take the toonshading over this new look, which still looks incredible.

ElectricKaibutsu4108d ago

I am a bit worried about the graphics. I hope they don't try to do anything fancy and mess them up.

so far im loving the graphics. Cant wait to see how some of the temples look like, just thinking about how the temple in dragonroost island will look like makes me drool

I would like to see some gamepad implementation to navigation at sea, especially if we could easily adjust the wind direction from there without having to constantly pull out the baton

I luv'd the touch screen implementation for LOZ:phantom hour glass on the DS. You drew your path on the touch screen for your boat to follow. All while still having full control over when you could stop your boat or fire your cannon. I think it'll be cool if they give you that option on the WiiU gamepad. It helped make the sailing convenient.

Gorgeous game to begin with and a lovely adventure, but one that was incredibly easy to the point of being disappointing and even insulting. The bird boss you fight for example is so stupidly easy it makes you wonder if they had 4 year olds in mind, and one on one encounters too just aren't challenging in any way. Skyward Sword improves this aspect and I hope they have this in mind for WW

An adorable game though and a great shame when it came to end- too few dungeons being the the other issue despite the 4 in Majoras's Mask feeling just right. In fact it would be great to see those dungeons that never came to be that were on the disc in some form

Either way I'll buy this but I hope they allow something like a master mode

I'd put Street Fighter 2 over 3. 2 and all its different versions dominated the arcade scene back in the day in a way that 3 never did.

Abear21171d ago

Agreed, Same with Metal Gear Solid imo. Came for Bioshock and was not disappointed. Would easily put Burger Time or Space Taxi over tempest. Also, OG Sim City and Oregon Trail. Mario 64 as well. Just too many!

Abear21171d ago

Never played it I gotta get on this one

Double_O_Revan171d ago

Me too. I didn't have a GC until way later and never played it. I've been waiting on Nintendo to release the HD edition on the Switch for forever, but they just won't!

FinalFantasyFanatic171d ago

I never bought a Gamecube, I've always had an urge to play this game, maybe it'll get a remaster in the future.

LoveSpuds171d ago

I played it on WiiU for the first time and it remains my fave Zelda game to date. So much character and a real sense of exploration without the open world bloat.

Petebloodyonion171d ago

Ms Pacman?
Robotron?
SSF2 Turbo over 3 simply by the 10000000000's ports of the game we're still having
Castlevania SOTN?
Zelda Link to the Past over Wind Waker
Super Mario Bros 3?
Chrono Trigger?
Resident evil4?
COD MW2 (the original)?
Uncharted 2
Metal Gear Solid?

Here's my reasoning for all of them versus the list proposed in the article.
They are still quite enjoyable from start to finish on their original platform, unlike some Wind Waker or Okami that are fun when you play the remastered version (unless you call: forced to watch a 20-minute cutscene or have to blow for wind chance constantly fun).
Some of them are the pinnacle of what the console could do (MGS, Chrono, MGS)
Lots of them are still considered the go-to-go game for their genre.

Said it before but Heart of Darkness is truly a timeless gem.
