There is no point in hiding it, we all know it’s coming, the next generation of gaming hardware is without a doubt an inevitability and this week I thought it would be a perfect time to take a look at everything we know about the next generation hardware from Sony. Sure nothing has been "confirmed" from the bosses at Sony, but there comes a time prior to the announcement and launch of any major product that the rumours start to live a life of their own, as they say "there is no smoke without fire".
A new rumor suggests the next Xbox console is currently being tested by developers in South Korea.
If true, hopefully a fully fledged next gen console and not some unnecessary mid gen refresh system.
It could be that rumored Xbox portable, who knows
Could be the refresh console perhaps? I doubt it'll be the new console. Might be the portable rumored device.
Regardless the fact we're talking about new hardware already is absolutely pathetic. Barely any current gen stuff out and the stuff that is out or coming is at 30 fps or doesn't, doesn't look current gen and what have you.
All we're doing is chasing power and not creating the games to harness said power.
Worse generation so far easily.
It was reliably leaked just a month ago that MS hadn't signed contracts for next gen till literally weeks ago- the same leakers that correctly leaked that hi fi rush and pentiment and sea of thieves were going to ps5. So this is very very very unlikely- if not impossible. Also it's way too early....
GB: "The Switch is inarguably in its final stages of its lifecycle. As such, we try to speculate what its successor would look like from a specs perspective."
It’s just a guessing game until Nintendo officially reveals the console. Better to keep expectations low.
My only expectation would be it can play existing switch carts and digital games. Like 3DS did with DS
We have to be realistic given the requirements Nintendo usually considers when deploying a new console the last few years.
It must be power efficient and small in form factor in addition to being hybrid (therefore lowered specs in comparison with other consoles). This means that it will not become as hot when playing as say the Steam Deck.
It must be relatively cheap (not in the 500$ price range but lower)
It must be backwards compatible with Switch
Therefore I am expecting base PS4 power level with newer hardware and upscaling tricks. Anything more powerful will eat the battery rather quickly especially if the rumours about the 8 inch screen are true.
But consider having a Zelda with Ghosts of Tsushima level of graphics! That would be simply stunning
"As part of the integration of GAME, we will be phasing out the trade-in, pre-owned and Game Elite offerings in the UK over the coming months," a spokesperson for the chain's owner Frasers Group told BBC News"
Seems like a blizzar move here. It's the second hand market they thrived upon.
If I'm not mistaken game are owned by the same company who own GameStop in the US?
Whaaaa
Gamestation is gone
Grainger Games is gone
CEX is shit
Jesus. The only reason we use GAME is because there’s nobody else and they get away with this shit.
eBay does well on second hand games, always works for me, always get more than I would have done trade in .
which if effectively a double con, as with a trade in you are normally offered a fair market price, on the reasoning, you are in-affect promising to buy the future product form the same retailer.
Were people even doing this these days? They offer awful amounts. The best way is to ebay or gumtree. Day ones games are generally getting 90% of my money back after I'm done with them
A high street store can not compete with online. Game prices are £59.99 for a new release. Go with many of the online stores and those games are £44.99-49.99 for day one.
The fact game charge you £5 more to collect in-store compared to their own online shop is a joke. The excuse was on the lines "it's our stocking fee."
I stopped using game around 5 or more years back. I'd pop in looking for a real bargain, but rarely find anything.
I'm not surprised they're going out of business, they could not get with the times and they definitely could not compete with online when greed was the forefront.
Sounds like Sony is bringing one very nice hardcore gaming console once again. Keeping the blu-ray or something different? Which would also ask if PS3 games will work on it.
Well Blu-ray is a fairly future proof format, it only requires minor tweaks (in some cases only to firmware on certain devices) to be able to read 100GB - 200GB discs, so I see no reason why Sony would abandon the format they've invested so heavily in, especially given the impending release of "mastered in 4K bluray" and the uptake of the format.
Backwards compatability I doubt will exsist given the different architecture of the GPU / CPU, sony investing heavily in GaiKai and the fact that "HD" re-releases prove so financially tasty to developers.
Ok HD remakes may not sound much when the source was HD already but rarely are todays games 60FPS@1080 and that would certainly be a big market in the coming years for todays top games.

cant wait for the reveal.. Its going to be a beast gaming machine.. Media secondary hopefully
What's funny is that we know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Every single article that has "here's what we know" then proceeds to write paragraph after paragraph of lies. No one but Sony knows anything, so stop posting these articles as though they contain any facts at all when they don't.
Hardware excluded, Sony has a real chance to show something special. I just feel it in my bones that a few stellar first party studios are working on some AAA launch titles. I honestly think Sony's learnt from their past mistakes and has been humbled to level with gamers. They're going for the jugular this time around.
