Drew Bergmark of Original-Gamer.com: I don't think the 'Playstation 4' will come out in 2013 for several different reasons which all of them include the concurrent success of the Playstation 3.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
Sea of Thieves is the first Rare-developed game to launch for a PlayStation console, and Sony was heavily involved in helping the studio bring the swashbuckling pirate romp to its flagship console.
Out of curiosity could any of these ms games going to ps5 have been leaked by Sony themselves? Not Sony but someone at Sony
sony isn't about to let some console wars get in the way of trying to make microsoft become a third party dev by showing them that they make more money with them than without them. of course with that in mind they'd help them. it's also doubly so because microsoft are bringing what is considered a popular game over that can also make sony money
Nice.
Still don't want it though.
Tell me Killer Instinct is coming to PS5 and then we'll talk.
"All signs point to the hardware becoming less and less important to Microsoft."
Less innovation and competition. People act like if MS went away life would be better but it would just mean you have one less choice as to where to spend your money. If Sony became the defacto home console provider and Nintendo the handheld, then these companies could limit what you get and you would ultimately have very little choice but to support them if you want to play games.
I was a video that suggested that Steam could potentially get into the console market if Xbox ceases to exist. They already had the Steam Machine(?), and they have the Steam Deck for the portable market. I’m not in the pc space at all so I wouldn’t know if that would be a realistic statement.
No Xbox future I am going to guess Microsoft will go down the path Sega choose and be a publisher/game developer with their in house studios. Or sell off their in house studios and just go back to making os for PC's. I highly doubt the second part. Microsoft like any company wants to make money. So if Microsoft did say pull the plug on Xbox I see them going down the path Sega went. And utilize Xbox as a brand and not just as a console. I can see the name of XBox being mainly a brand after that. And maybe with the game you see published by or developed by Xbox studios.
this article makes some valid points but i disagree. i think Sony isn't going to want to make two launches in a row as the last one out of the gate. also it seems from all the rumors microsoft and sony will be vary close in specs so im sure any longer time waiting wont give any advantage on the tech side to sony. especially when it comes to specs and cost ratio, no way is sony in this american economy going to launch a system with significantly better specs than the nextbox, they just can't afford a high launch price when they know the nextbox is targeting that $350-$399 sweet spot. so i think that whole, "we'll let microsoft announce their console first" is all marketing and competitor talk just to get hype and throw jabs at microsoft's marketing team.
next are the games, most exclusives for the playstation 3 are going to out buy summer 2013, any other announced exclusives with no release date (last guardian) most likely slipped into the launch window of the playstation 4. also i would bet that with all the HD remakes of past playstation exclusives, any playstation 3 exclusive titles shipping later in 2013 will be ported as playstation 4 launch window titles.
lastly the different system bundles and playstation 3 models are telling me they want to go after as many late adopters BEFORE the playstation 4 announcement. they did a similar thing back with the playstation 2 slim. i think this is sony's last stand in big sales with playstation 3 before the steady decline aer the playstation 4 announcement and launch. the only other marketing gimmick to get more juice out of the system would be a spring/summer price cut, which would make a lot more sense after the inevitable playstation 4 announcement.
the console will launch when its ready
I'm still skeptical about a 2014 release, only beacuse we have no details on games coming at the end of this year and so many games in the first half. Until that happens or we're offically told otherwise im going to go with a November 2013 release.
Based on Kaz Hirai's comment of letting Microsoft announce first, I'm guessing Sony is pretty much ready to show the PS4 whenever. The only way the PS4 will come out in 2014 is if there is a major manufacturing problem that forces them to delay the launch for a few months.
I'm still gonna say it will come out in early November for $399.
i m sick of this next gen blabla
