2013: 5 Potential Game Of The Year Contenders

"2013 is looking like it could be the last year for the current generation of consoles (for PS3 and Xbox 360 at least). Next-gen consoles look like they’ll release later this year or early next year, snaring attention away from current-gen consoles." | Explosion.com

the thing is with all the games coming out this year
i just can't choose one GOTY for me
but if i had to guess

those are the top contenders for GOTY awards (in no order) :

1.the last of us
2.god of war ascension
3.beyond two souls
4.ni no kuni
5.GTAV
6.bioshock

Kanzes4109d ago

You forget Metal Gear Solid V/Ground Zeroes dude! if that new MGS coming this year, I'm sure it will be a GOTY contender and facing GTA all over again.

Ezz20134109d ago

i didn't disagree with you
but MGSGZ is not confirmed for this year

extermin8or4109d ago

Watch Dogs is and I think as a new IP it's up there above GTA5 maybe even worthy of 2nd place...

Last Of Us
Beyond 2 Souls
GTA V
Pokemon X Y
Bioshock Infinite

Are my top 5 no order :D

Tearaway tbqh looks to be a sleeper hit.

Missed the "in no order" part, sorry =(

Pokemon over Bioshock Infinite?

I love Pokemon as much as the next guy and will always have a little flame for it since i grew up with it, but i find it pretty difficult as now "mature" gamer that it will be a better game that Bioshock Infinite.

Looks amazing to the extent i ordered the Songbird edition. Ken Levine is nothing short of genius and imo the wests answer to the mind of Hideo Kojima.

You never know something might be revealed at E3 for a late fall release that could be really great

doogiebear4109d ago

Let's not forget Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes. And Shin Megami Tesnei IV for 3ds.

Ezz20134109d ago

did they confirm Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes coming out this year ??!!

BanBrother4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

My list (obviously going off my preconceptions).

1. Beyond 2S
2. Ni No Kuni
3. Bioshock Infinite
4. The Last Of Us
5. Metro Last Light

All of the games I listed focus almost entirely on the single-player. Although I love playing online multiplayer, nothing beats a well crafted, amazing and unforgettable single player experience. The 5 games I listed have every chance of being some of the best games this gen IMO.

EDIT: Spelling. Also, there are many other awesome games coming out this year that I will be buying, but these are the ones that really stand out for me. Love to see more people's opinions, so share them :-)

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4109d ago (Edited 4109d ago )

the last of us
ni no kuni
Bioshock
beyond: two souls
GTA5
pikmen 3?
Elder Scolls Online mmo goty.
gears 4?

EddieNX 4109d ago

Well said for listing Pikmin 3. Whilst Nintendo haters won't put it on their list , its definitely a contender for Game of the year. So is Pokemon X and Y for 3DS.....

contradictory4109d ago

if only persona 5 would be announced for release this year...

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing6914h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos12h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8511h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
