It’s been a hot topic for some time now, but we now know that Defiance will be Buy To Play, with Trion Worlds announcing that it will not require a subscription to play. The news comes hand-in-hand with the announcement that pre-orders for the upcoming MMORPG have begun on Trion Worlds’ official website.
After 8 years of Defiance and 3 years of Defiance 2050, both titles are being sunsetted on April 29, 2021.
Me too. I remember putting a lot of hours into it before it went free to play. After, it went f2p, I didn't play it near as much, but it makes me nostalgic.
I liked the show and picked up a sealed collectors edition of the 360 game for $5 at a thrift store a couple years ago.
It had a good run honestly, way better than it had any business being, especially for it to be part of a tv series

The gaming industry, like any industry really, is a cruel mistress. We witness this cold reality yet again when we see the studio Trion Worlds, which was behind Rift, Trove and Archeage, having to cut over 150 workers today.

Wonder how popular this will be on the PS3 and Xbox. Hopefully it is a sign that more MMOFPS will be on the next-gen consoles.
