Game wants to buy some stores from HMV. I swear they were in administration barley half a year ago.

pompombrum4108d ago

And going by their current prices, I really can't imagine them doing much better off than this time last year either.

"Want" doesn't always mean "they will". They could just be talking out of context.

"I want some sweets". Doesn't mean the parent will give them any.

fossilfern4108d ago

and theres a HMV right beside GAME in belfast. I mean there is a wall separating the two stores...

ohhh game how sweet your demise will be run by complete idiots

tigertron4108d ago

So a failing company buys another failing company. I swear these companies are run by monkeys.

Both these shops are terrible...

There more of a last resort type of place for me when I can't be asked to wait for a game to be delivered...

HMV in London Says Smash Bros Wii U Will Be Coming November 28th

A reader of My Nintendo News has snapped a pre-order box shot of Super Smash Bros Wii U in one of the HMV stores in London. The accompanying label claims that Super Smash Bros for the Wii U will be arriving in stores on November 28th. Of course, this could simply be a placeholder, but as Nintendo has yet to officially confirm anything other than winter, this is one of the closest things we’ve got to a release date for the game.

Right in time for the holidays. I wouldn't be surprised if wiiu comes out on top this December.

MSBAUSTX3540d ago

Well Between now and Christmas they Have Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 1/2, and then SSB Wii U, all of which I have reserved. Everyone I know that is a gamer is either buying a Wii U this Christmas for the titles that have just come out or are between now and the new year. Plus there a lot f kids that havent gotten one yet from their parents because they may be waiting until christmas to buy it for them. It is still the cheapest console on the market and right now Frys has it bundled with 3 ganes for only 349 bucks. I am sure other systems will sell well too but this holiday season is primed to be a Wii U frenzy IMO. It is for me at least. Lol

"Winter 2014" would be sometime after December 21st-- it's "Holiday 2014," meaning (hopefully) closer to Thanksgiving than Christmas. The fact that a release date hasn't been set for one of the biggest games this year makes me fearful they're still frantically working on it... which leaves the possibility of a Brawl situation all over again.

Already bought from Target when they ran B2G1, waiting on my free game.

High Street and Supermarkets Still Dominate Boxed Games Market

Gamer Headlines writes: I’d like to think that we UK gamers are quite savvy when it comes to finding the best deal when buying games. And let’s face it; everything is generally cheaper online from the vast number of websites like Amazon, ShopTo, Zavvi, Game Collection and deal forums like HotUkDeals when comparing prices to high street stores like Game, HMV, Argos or the local supermarket.

Well gamers, it would seem that more than half of all physical games are still sold in traditional bricks and mortar establishments according to last year’s stats.

I thought HMV had shut down in the UK

bggriffiths3689d ago

A lot of stores did. But they saved a few after they found a buyer for the company. Just this week though, they announced they're ditching their pre-owned games department.

I bet most of the consoles sold in high streets and supermarkets are bought by parents (in other words, the uninformed buyers)
