Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Looks Amazing in HD

GenGAME writes: You may have played Skyward Sword before, but you’ve never played it like this. Using the Dolphin emulator, Skyward Sword can run at 1080p with additional anti-aliasing and anisotropic texture filtering, giving the game a breathtaking new look.

Fingers crossed Nintendo releases a Zelda HD collection for Wii U. Thanks for sharing the video

Erimgard4106d ago

I'm hoping for that as well. Between this and Wind Waker, there's real potential for new life out of some of the old games.

DOMination-4106d ago

The thing is.. The game is rendered at 480p. You can do all sorts of fancy things but the game is still at the bed of the day 480p upscaled. You can't magically change the source material.

Having said that, i do like dolphin. I just find this video a bit misleading. Just imo.

ElectricKaibutsu4106d ago

I'm not sure if it is upscaled. According to the video they actually render it at a higher resolution. Of course this doesn't make the textures higher, but it does make everything sharp and jaggy-free.

Thank you! Someone who understands textures and resolutions.

I tell people this kind of stuff all the time it's like playing console games on PC, sure you can scale them as high as you want but it doesn't matter if the actual textures in the game aren't made for that resolution. They are always preset anyway.

Even some PC games are like that.

isarai4106d ago

no not really, Dolphin changes the native rendering resolution to whatever you set it to. Upscaling an image does not magically add detail to a picture, in fact is just causes it to blur and often lose detail. Native resolution has nothing to do with source meterial.

Also @ profgerbik

Textures aren't related to rendering resolution in the least.

FlyingFoxy4106d ago

yeah no shit, we could do this on Dolphin years ago..

ElectricKaibutsu4106d ago

What do you mean? This is footage of Dolphin.

FlyingFoxy4106d ago

I mean the headline that it looks amazing on Dolphin, it's nothing new because all games look much better on Dolphin and have been able to run pretty much full speed on any good rig built within the last 4 years or so.

ElectricKaibutsu4106d ago

Ah OK. I should give Dolphin a shot.

MaleManSam4106d ago

You know what would look better in HD?

Twilight Princess... Make that damn Demo for the wii u Work nintendo. DO IT!

Seraphim4106d ago

Lol was just thinking the same thing... the past couple weeks I've had an itch to go play Twilight Princess but I really don't think I could endure an SD game that isn't on my NES...

no_more_heroes4106d ago

That...was stunning. Both the graphics and the audio were just...BEAUTIFUL.

Emme4106d ago

Something the WiiU should do out of the box. That is doesnt is a big fail.

Buckshot Roulette (PC) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "Ultimately, Buckshot Roulette is a fun little distraction that the former stats teacher in me wishes had been fleshed out just a touch more. There’s enough content here to entertain for an hour or so, and while it won’t be the best hour of gameplay you experience this year, it’ll probably be one of the more memorable. Give it a try, and support the developer (Mike Klubnika), so that he can make a sequel where you play Poker against a horrifically toothy version of Clifford the Big Red Dog."

Wanted: Dead VR is Amazing (UEVR Mod from PrayDog)

CG writes: We put Solei’s action game into VR using Praydog’s UEVR mod for a really neat third-person Wanted: Dead VR game. What’s great is that it just works with no tweaking required, other than perhaps renaming the OpenVR folder if it fails to inject. The experience is great as a gamepad, third-person action game. Due to the nature of the gameplay, you need to be able to see enemies who sneak up behind you, so the third-person view is perfect for this.
