Next Gen Consoles Might Offer Pre-Downloads, Call of Duty Survey hints

A new report has surfaced about the features of the PlayStation 4 or Xbox 720, thanks to a special survey sent by Activision to Call of Duty fans. In the questionnaire, fans are asked about their opinion of a digital version of a Call of Duty game that’s pre-downloaded to their consoles and available for play right at launch day

Great idea--I love having this option on PC. Preordering is a huge business and I bet it would be a very well received feature for next gen consoles as well. It might not start off huge as it is on PC today but would still be well received by those that choose downloading games over physical copies.

nice, love this feature on steam and other digital download platforms, lots of times, on pc at least, you get a ton of pre order bonus's, 10-25% off the games msrp, tax free purchase and, you can start playing at exactly midnight

great deal all around for a game you cannot wait to play....if you don't mind not having that tasty box!

....for me, for a game i am really pumped for, I want a physical copy, breaking open the seal on a game i have been yearing for, for months on end is part of the magic of being a gamer for me at least....the anticipation, the new game smell....the glossy newness of it...lol....

usually, i only digitally purchase games that i am getting an exceptionally good deal on, even though i own over 250 steam games, 90% of them were bought for under $20, with many being $5 or less and i just don't see sony and ms giving deals anywhere near what steam/amazon/greenmangaming/go g ect do......

please prove me wrong though sony and microsoft, i'd love to be buying AAA console games for $5 digitally, im just not going to hold my breath!

It would be ridiculously stupid If people are still clamoring for that game by the time it's released for next gen consoles. Sales are already going down but how much longer till people understand they are getting the same game every year

This shit is such a hassle. I prefer the good old days when you just picked up a physical copy of the game and stuck it in the disc drive.

No need to download or wait on anything. These changes are all to the benefit of the companies profiting off the games more than anyone else. It helps them lower their production costs and creates a burden for us.

I'd say it's nice to download stuff like this for cellphones or tablets or whatever. But for a video game console just give me a disc and don't require me to do any downloads. Put it on the disc.
