A Wii U Commercial Was Pulled Because A Single Person Complained

In Britain, the Advertising Standards Authority operates under a fairly simple rule. If even a single person complains about a commercial, they take a look at it, and if they agree, they can pull the ad from the airwaves.

Wrong again Kotaku. The title is misleading. Should be pulled.

The ad was pulled because it was misleading. Not every game has that feature.

Your site really needs to die, you spout so much bs, vote this site down and do away with it.

Tetsujin4116d ago

I voted down Kotaku and after what you posted refused to even read the article now, thanks for saving me from giving them a hit.

lol that is so silly....i have a computer and it can do faxes anytime i desire it to, that doesnt mean i chose to send faxes, i can do many things doesnt mean i want to at all specific times...duh the point is wiiu hardware is built to do those things...how is that misleading, obviously not every game has to take advantage of it...not every wii game used motion control...very silly

Your right a bubble for u,if they looked at most adverts they could ban all of them if you nitpick ????

iamnsuperman4116d ago

If the watchdog thinks it is giving off the impression all games can do that (which the don't) then it is misleading. All that will happen is the advert is pulled then put back on with a disclaimer. Not a big deal and something Nintendo should have done to start with.

millzy1024116d ago

this is the UK for you the ASA is over strict it only takes 1 complaint of a misleading nature and about 3 complaints of an offensive nature and 1 for sexist, most of the time its old buddies complaining for the fun of it.

iamnsuperman4116d ago

It doesn't matter how many people complain about it being misleading. If the watchdog finds the advert isn't strictly true then it needs to be pulled. It just takes one person for an investigation to be called and they independently decide if the complaint is valid and if the advert is unsuitable .

Nintendo needs to look at their ads very closely, ppl still get confused of the Wii and Wii u their marketing team needs to address the issue ASAP.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga4d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas4d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

repsahj4d ago

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.

BG3 has won everything possible. It's insane.
