DmC Devil May Cry: Critical Gamer review

Critical Gamer writes: When DmC Devil May Cry was first revealed it was met by near-universal cries of “What have you done to Dante?!” and rather than focus on whether Ninja Theory would be able to put a spin on the original game’s storyline and keep the fast paced hack and slash gameplay that fans have always loved intact, Dante’s face remained the main talking point. Were fans right to nitpick the design of the main character instead of worrying about the game? Time to find out.

yeah, because that's what everyone complained about for 2 years. nothing but Donte's hair. *sigh* i swear these journalists are purposely being stupid.

Honestly, at this point, it's become ridiculous so I'd say it's time to just let go. Who cares about what some "journalist" thinks about people who don't like the game or how he sees the ones with actual complaints and the ones who just hate for the sake of hating as one group? I mean look at this;

"Despite the modern twist to the plot and pacing, we were actually surprised at how faithful the combat remained to the previous DMC games."

Does this sound like someone who knows what is he talking about regarding the gameplay difference between DMC and DmC?

So, just drop it. Let the barely known, third grade sites pander to the lowest common denominator with their reviews. You won't be able to change their opinions or prove them wrong anyway and will waste your breath in the proccess.

Why are you still even insist on replying with the same smug attitude using the same moot argument over and over again?

You make me smile dude...

Why are you ppl so ps***d off that the new DMC is actually really good. Accept it dude, dont feel ashamed, I dont consider my self a hard core gamer or DMC fan but i know when a game is fun and when it is not...

I have all the HALO games but i have never played ANY of them for more then 1 hour... I dont like it but i know it is GREAT and appeal to many many people. I dont go rating it 0 or saying that no reviewer should rate it high or soo.. You people should do the same.. BE GROWN UPS...

Journalists are reviewing this game on the basis of fun and experience.. and the game is hack fun, finished it and wow... Play it for the experience not for the hair color gamers :)DMC or no DMC. This game is good and deserves the rating it is getting

I love video games, and Devil May Cry is one of my favs. I've been playing the new one for about 4 hours, and I have to say; it's almost as good as 3. I'm playing on Nephilim, and it's really fun. I don't like his hair, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an awesome game. If you like Devil May Cry games you should at the very least rent it.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Friendlygamer3h ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

5 Years Later, Devil May Cry 5 Still Quenches My Hack-And-Slash Thirst Like No Other

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Devil May Cry 5, the latest iteration in the iconic DMC franchise by Capcom, still holds its own as a fantastic hack-and-slash in 2024."
