Beat ‘em ups have been all but down for the count for the better part of a decade now. Long gone are the days of Double Dragon, Streets of Rage and Final Fight and with them, the prominence of this once beloved faction of gaming has dwindled. After nearly a year wait, Platinum Games latest offering has finally made it to western shores and with it some hope of a revival. For the most part, it was worth the wait, but has some short comings holding it back from being the champion this genre needs.
A recent wave of modern brawlers have exploded onto the scene, and it feels like they owe Anarchy Reigns some gratitude.
Jerry from BagoGames says, "With Astral Chain coming out right around the corner for the Nintendo Switch, I couldn’t help but think about all the amazing games PlatinumGames has pumped out over the years. Some revered greatly, others panned by critics, but to me insane infatuation. These are my five favorite games from my favorite developer"
After Xbox's announcement that there won't be any more backwards compatible games until the release of Project Scarlett, here's a reflection of what could, or perhaps should have been.
Not only would it have been great if Max Payne, Freedom Fighters, Nier, Blur and Lollipop Chainsaw got to become backwards compatible, it also would be great if those games got to have more games come out in their franchises.
Its not as backwards compatibity is dead its just been put on hold so all backwards compatibity game work on next xbox then when its released they will start up again, P.S I did finish Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Burning Earth
Might get the chance when Scarlett comes out. I mean for all games Xbox 360 and Original Xbox. I can dream it happening.
i wasnt going to purchase any games until ive made a decent dent into my backlog(w/ the exception of ni no kuni since i have it preordered) but im gonna get this on saturday to show some support for the developer, id love to see more games like this come out in the future, we got way too many me too shooters this gen.
