PS Vita Essential Games Guide

Glacier928: "Sony’s latest portable device has been out for almost one year now, with it also being nearly a year since we’ve gotten our hands on it back at PlayStation Blog’s Community Meetup Event held in NYC. When we first got our hands on the device, we were immediately impressed with how the system felt. The overall design gave it a sleek and downright sexy look, while providing for an incredibly solid build. With the console approaching it’s one year anniversary in the US, I look back at all the Vita games I’ve played in the various genres and provide my personal favorites that pertain to each category."

If you have a Vita, get Assassin's Creed III: Liberation. It's the best AC next to 2 and one of the best handheld games ever made.

TriangleOffense4113d ago

I got liberation when they had that flash sale of AC3 and Liberation for $60. Its my next game to play

gtr_loh4113d ago

Liberation's 1.02 patch killed me... My 100+ hours spent collecting everything was gone cause my save file was corrupted somehow...

r214113d ago

Damn man that sucks. At least you had a great time playing the game though.

metsgaming4113d ago (Edited 4113d ago )

i hear they released a patch to fix that save game glitch, alot of people stopped when they heard of the glitch and waited for the patch.

Braid4112d ago

100+ hours and you still had something left to do? Wow that's one long game then, what activities do you have in the game?

About the saves, did you try deleting the game data? As far as I know your saves are stored somewhere else, at least that's how it works for PS3 if I'm not mistaken.

fantasygamer4113d ago

I'm personally having ALOT of fun with LBP Vita and Persona 4 Golden.

oONinjavitiSOo4113d ago

Agreed! Also love Ragnarok odyssey! I have 12 vita games and all are fantastic minus cod:bod. Definitely looking forward to more great games this year. And not just for the vita but for all consoles and handhelds alike.

SaiyanFury4112d ago

I've loved my Vita since I picked it up on launch day. I have 3 of the aforementioned games being Uncharted, Gravity Rush, and Persona 4: The Golden. I also have Dynasty Warriors NEXT. I only got Persona 4 a week or so ago, but I have to be honest; it's the first game I bought that continually drags me back to my Vita for hours on end. I love all the games I have but it's the single one that I keep loading over and over. Easily the best JRPG (my favourite genre) I've played in quite a long time. And on the Vita's boss OLED screen it looks fantastic.

DivineAssault 4113d ago

love my vita.. I hope sony can manage to drop the price a bit this year so others can see how amazing it really is.. what a shame people cant see its beauty cuz its TOTALLY worth the asking price with those bundles

EddieNX 4113d ago

just bought a Vita and I like it! It's not some AMAZING device though , it's just wuite good.

Uncharted , Gravity rush , Rayman Origins are what I have and they're all excellent. However I bought it of a kid who had declassified pre installed and that game sucks...

TheLastGuardian4113d ago

I agree with the choices in the article except I would change best downloadable game from RCR to Sound Shapes. Also I would add Lumines: Electronic Symphony as best puzzle game.

@Kingofwiiu

I clicked disagree and you went from 2 bubbles to 1 LMAO. Btw, I disagreed because I think it is amazing. You probably do think it's amazing, but won't admit it because of your bias.

Besides you've only played a handful of Vita games so far. Get LBP, Sound Shapes, WipEout, P4G, Lumines, Super Stardust, Mutant Blobs Attack, Escape Plan, Dokuro, Retro City Rampage, Ragnarok Odyssey and AC3: Liberation.

teedogg804112d ago

Don't forget Unit 13. It's a way better game than BO Declassified.

sprinterboy4113d ago

sound shapes, uncharted, gravity rush are awesome, in fact not played a bad game on it yet.

guitarded774113d ago

Then don't play Reality Fighters or Chronovolt... they both suck. But the games you listed are great. One game that's constantly overlooked is New Little King's Story... great game with many hours of gameplay.

Forget Gravity Rush movie, give us another GR game!

porkChop100d ago

I didn't even know a movie was coming. If they can get the visuals and everything right I'll watch it.

Barlos100d ago

I didn't either, until this article. I'm also surprised, since GR was a commercial flop. Seems weird that they'd want to invest money into making it into a film.

I think the games are great though, especially on Vita. I think the move to PS4 killed the experience a little, but I'd still like to see a new one.

1Victor100d ago

I didn’t know it was in development ether but it makes sense after they saw the first doctor strange movie and the far from home fight, if it’s like that’s it’s going to be one of those Oscar nominees

Cacabunga100d ago

GR movie and shutting Japan Studio.. so stupid

porkChop100d ago

@Cacabunga

Oh yeah... Well there goes any hope for a new game. Shuttering Japan Studio was a really bad decision.

Surely you’d think if the movie is coming so is another game

And I couldn’t be happier.

Only played the demo of gr2 but let me say it’s one of the most artistic and inventive new games. Ps5 will power gr3 to new heights
Fingers crossed

Made my day hearing this.

Finally, something innovative

Redemption-64100d ago

GR2 flopped, which would they make a new game? A movie has more appeal and a successful hit at the bix office, could lead to a new game for the franchise

ChasterMies100d ago

Ok, I’ll stop sitting on Gravity Rush 2. It’s been in my library for only 8 years.

Chocoburger100d ago

Play Gravity Rush Remastered first if you haven't already, the stories are linked together. GR 2 is a fantastic game, it has a lot of stuff to see and do. In fact I have purposefully not completed the game 100% because I simply didn't want the game to end. I still have some trophies to collect, and a whole free story DLC chapter to play through.

Gravity Rush 3 would be amazing! But the team that made parts 1 and 2 were shut down, so I don't expect it to happen. This was Jim Ryan's biggest sin of all, shutting down PlayStation Japan Studios. What a shame.

FinalFantasyFanatic100d ago

Why not both? I really like the games and was disappointed we didn't get a third game to finish off the story, but I wouldn't mind a movie either if it's well done. Maybe it'll drum up enough interest to get us that third game.

gold_drake100d ago

damn that is aaalot of ppl

id rather have another Gravity Rush game than a movie tbh

DarXyde100d ago

Same. This series really resonates with my gaming spirit. I love these games so much that I got four platinums out of two games. I was always dreading that we would never get another game after Japan Studio's closure, but I'm feeling hopeful in them not giving up on the franchise with this move. My guess is that they're going to use this as a funding point

MrNinosan100d ago

That is the same amount as daily loading screens... never mind

I'll have to make this a mission the next time I blow through Tokyo.

Hopefully soon, given the limited availability.

Seraphim279d ago

send me one while you're at it. I mean what's better than Whiskey and Persona? A cigar with the two, and that would be perfection personified.

Remasters And Remakes Make Up 90 Percent Of 2023's Highest-Rated Games

Only one of the games on the top ten is completely original.

90 percent of Metacrtitic's top ten highest-rated games of 2023 so far are remasters and remakes, with Hi-Fi Rush acting as the only wholly original game to make the list so far.

We might only be in March, but it seems like we've already got tons of great games to be talking about, including Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, Hi-Fi Rush, Persona 4 Golden, and Metroid Prime Remastered. There is one commonality between those games, however - most of them are remakes and remasters.
