Top Contenders for GOTY 2013 Award, Including GTA V

2013 has started on a pretty slow note for gaming industry, apart from revealed of new brand IP from CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077 nothing astonishing has happened so far. However with each passing day things will change dramatically, and 2013 will be a moster year for video game industry as the release of some most anticipated games (GTA V, The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite and more) are just around the corner.

Why not make a list for GOTY 2014 Contenders ?

Why not make a list for GOTY 2015 Contenders ?

Honestly it's quite stupid to make a GOTY 2013 contenders with so many games to be announced and released.

calis4111d ago

Yeah, basically it's just Hype contenders of the year 2013.

WeskerChildReborned4111d ago

We have no idea what games are coming out in 2014 or 2015, we've already got a announced list for games in 2013 and their are already a few you can say look "GOTY worthy" and that would be Last of Us and GTA V, don't know if Watch Dogs or MGS GZ are coming out in 2013 though.

Hydralysk4111d ago

Regardless of whether or not we know their release date, it's pointless to nominate 'Contendors' for 2013 GOTY when absolutely none of these games has even been released yet.

Thatguy-3104111d ago (Edited 4111d ago )

I agree though the top 3 on the list are for sure nominees. Doubt anything bigger will come out towards the end of the yr. I honestly don't see anyone announcing something amazing that no one has heard of and release it in Q3 or Q4. Things need time to build hype.

otherZinc4111d ago

Good idea, my list:

1.GTA5
2.Gears of War Judgement
3.Destiny
4.Bioshock Infinite
5.God of War:Next

Please, we all know it will be Call of Duty: The Next Version.

Sigh.

If somehow all that is good in the world prevails and CoD isn't GOTY, i'd expect GTAV to win.

calis4111d ago

I would not be surprised if GTAV hasn't already won it in the minds of many.

Persistantthug4111d ago

A Call Of Duty game hasn't won an AIAS Game Of The Year since CALL OF DUTY 4 (2007).
http://www.interactive.org/...

It does tend to win the "ACTION" catagory quite a bit though.....but almost never overall GOTY.

Hicken4111d ago

As Persistantthug above notes, it's been quite some time since Call of Duty has won GOTY.

Does that mean all that's good in the world has already prevailed?

Thatguy-3104111d ago

COD hardly wins any GOTY awards. I have no idea why you even bring it up. I swear people just like hating on the poor thing.

We don't even know what fall 2013 holds so lets wat and see

But I do believe 2013 GOTy will come from one of the earlier games

GTA5
Bioshock
last of us

Tomb raider could be on the list but now have heard mixed things, one thing though tomb raider went gold in November so from November till it comes out its more time for bugs/glitches fixing and more time for polish so hopefully it will be a quality games)

What if uncharted 4 launches with ps4 or alan wake 2 with next Xbox so there are a lot of unknowns for us to even say this game will be GOTY

EddieNX 4111d ago

Pokemon X and Y , Pikmin 3 will be contenders.

NoTheMama4111d ago

who would disagree with those fine choices?!
oh yeah, its N4G.....

EddieNX 4111d ago

The number of 10 year old Xbots and Sony drones on this site is frightening.

Cost of realistic looking movement.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Profchaos32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

MetalGearsofWar32d ago

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

sagapo33d ago

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

jznrpg32d ago

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos32d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
