Looking back, 2012 may be remembered as the year of surprises. No less than three of our staff members picked the small, but astounding Journey as their Game of the Year or runner-up. Other unexpected titles that made our Game of the Year include the indie-darling Fez, a revival of the long dead point-and-click adventure genre in The Walking Dead and then Dishonored, a new and innovative intellectual property.
But that was last year. Now we’re over a week into the new year, and our gaming eyes are forward.
There’s something exciting about being a gamer this time of year. The mad rush of the holiday gaming season winds down, and you’re nearly through all those games you got for Christmas. There’s a subtle lull in new software being released from your favorite developers in the first few weeks of the new year—a post-holiday hangover.
Excitement and anticipation build for those big titles you know are coming—Bioshock Infinite, Grand Theft Auto V—and those titles you know little and less about—Bungie’s Destiny. Even console developers are gearing to showcase the next generation in gaming, and with a new generation comes new, innovative experiences. However, after 2012 it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if a few indie games overshadow all of the above.
"The Game Music Foundation are today very proud and pleased to announce an additional concert, circling back to the roots of Game Muisic Festival in Poland. On April 28th, 2024, the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw will once again become a place to celebrate the art of video game music, featuring scores from The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II." - The Game Music Foundation.
The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.
Najam from eXputer writes "It's time fore a new installment in the series, not another pointless remaster."
They are working on something new. Not to be rude but it is impossibility stupid to think ND next major announcement is going to be a remaster or their next Last of Us entry is going to be another remaster.
Theres so many of these Games of 2013 articles and the pic is always The Last of Us.
I really cant wait to put the industry leading AI through its paces and experience a darker more mature story from Naughty Dog.
Damn you Double Post.
Oh well, when else will I ever get a chance to yell this?
