Kotaku And The Problem With Inflammatory Headlines In Video Game Blogging

They do it for the hits. I'm sure they know half their headlines are ridiculous. It's part of the reason you don't see their stories on this site anymore unless another site is reporting their stupidity.

That is the problem with sensationalism, and the hunt for hits. The real tragedy is ultimately that the truth finds itself lost in a sea of drama. I personally haven't taken Kotaku seriously in years.

Video Game Industry is a multi Billion dollar industry but all we seem to get is Bullchip flaimbait articles.

take all that money you make from advertisement and bribe someone at Valve to give you REAL information on the Next Half Life game and we would FORGIVE and love you forever but until then Kotaku SUCKS!

If you want Kraptaku gone from here, use your abilities to do so. You can start by voting them down. Underneath "Read Full Article" is the name of the site from which the article is from. If you see "kotaku.com+" click on the "+" and a drop down list will show up. In EVERY Kotaku article, regardless of what it's about, ALWAYS select "WTF?" under "Story Quality" and "No" under "Like this Website?"

If we all did that, they'd lose their 3 stars and we wouldn't have to see their flamebait on the site anymore. If that doesn't work, hound the admins about it incessantly until they get fed up with all the complaints.

Kotaku is the epitome of all the junk journalism that defined this generation of gaming. They were the leaders of the pack in bashing Sony (and still are), so they were hugely popular with the Xbots. And now that most ,not all,but most gamers and journalists are past the fanboy wars we are looking back at just how f-ing ridiculous of a joke games journalism has become, Kotaku being the worst.

No doubt there are some crazy, off the handle PS3 fanboys out there, but I think you got it wrong for the most part. If you can remember back in 2007 to basically the present, It was nothing but attacks from the Xbox loving crowd. PS3 fans, for the most part really weren't concerned about the rise of the Xbox this generation because we were still getting Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War, Gran Turismo, and Uncharted. All awesome games that are the reason we like Playstation. PS3 fans were basically retaliating against all the insults not only thrown at Sony, but the fans themselves. And standing your ground all the sudden meant you were a fanboy.

There's a night and day difference between being a fanboy and standing your ground after someone throws the first punch.

And this hypocrisy is exactly what we are seeing again right now with PS3 passing Xbox 360 in sales. There are some PS3 fans gloating, but never forget that Xbots threw the first punch.

I think we should separate journalism from sensationalism. I think it's insulting for the game journalism, when you call Kotaku journalists. They really are sensationalists.

It's beautiful. Gamers can't agree on what console is the best, but at least we all agree that Kotaku sucks.
