Chadwarden=Final Boss of Playstation All Stars.

wishingW3L4129d ago (Edited 4129d ago )

Chad Warden was a Youtube troll around 2007 that became really popular for defending the PS3 during its darkest days. He just said stuff like: "you know, the Xbox sucks and the Wii too. The PS3 is better than all of them" and for some reason that really riled up the fanboys that attacked him so furiously it was crazy.

LOL i remember chad! that guy was freaking HILARIOUS!1 man, i wish he still made youtube, that was some funny shit.

Ranma14129d ago (Edited 4129d ago )

FF13-2 sold a third of FF13, this game will probably sell half of what FF13-2 sold .

What is worrying is that even those kinds of sales are not enough for Square Enix to abandon this series

N4GDgAPc4129d ago

Because they still made money off of FF13-2. It cost a lot less to make than 13 and it sold 2.4 million copies which is good. Not much games get close to that. Granted they didn't sell as much they thought they would but they still made profit off of it.

IAmLee4128d ago

Don't really think anyone cares about Lightning, It's like SE are trying to force the character on us. In my opinion, they should ditch 13 because lets be honest, they are flogging a dead horse.

"Tetsuya Nomura designed Lightning’s new costume."

-Making him waste his time on this garbage instead of continuing with Versus XIII.

"Can change costumes, including colors, throughout the game."

-Because that's what FF is about now, dressing up the female characters. I wonder if there will be obligatory bikini outfits. Classy.

"Time is always flowing when you’re out in the field, except when you’re cycling through menus."

-Yay, nothing like being forced to progress at the game's pace instead of your own. Perfect system for an rpg. /s

"NPCs will change their whereabouts and actions."

-Awesome, so you can miss stuff because the NPC moved and you literally don't have the time to go looking for them. Another great move for an rpg. /s

"Information can only be obtained only a specific time."

-I don't really need to put another sarcastic comment about how stupid this is do I?

"Lightning operates alone in the game"

-Because she has such character and personality that we don't want other people.

"“Style” – can register weapons, shield, accessories, abilities into a Style during combat, switch to different ones while battling."

-So, what, copying DMC? Not much to say here until that's explained more.

"Can customize styles."

-Ok.

"Tentative combat name: “ATB amazing”"

-Do they have children developing this game?

"Earn points for effective use of time and equipment items"

-This is just more proof of how Toriyama wants RPG's to be more like shooters. What a waste of a game. Ridiculous system.

"Gives you the sensory feeling that multiple people are fighting even though it’s really just Lightning."

-No it doesn't. Nothing about what was mentioned here makes you feel like you have other people on your side. What kind of crap is that SE? You've really lost it.

Lord_Sloth4129d ago

Agreed on all fronts. I just want VS XIII already. They're trying way too hard to make Lightning the center of FF.

Root4129d ago (Edited 4129d ago )

Totaly agree man

See how their trying to hype these new features as MAJOR things, like they've listened to "fans" when it reality they will be crappy little minor things which won't make the game any more interesting.

They are just trying to sucker people into buying the game one last time

"OOOOO these features sounds awesome, it looks like Sqaure is really trying"

....no....just no

They did the same with FF13-2 and they didn't deliver...COME ON, wake up guys, they arn't going to change this time round, learn from your mistakes. They must think we are all idiots because of this

I mean they only called it Lightning Returns because they knew if they called it what it REALLY is, FF13-3 then more people would be put off but if they see this game most people would think it's a totaly new series in the FF franchise staring Lightning

Lightning is such a bad character, the only people I know who like her are the ones who have never played past FF games, the ones who drool over her looks, basciaaly the only good thing she has going for her and mostly girls...yeah I know, a lot of girl gamers, mostly those girl "gamers" who don't play on games much but still call themselfs gamers to "fit in" with a social crowd, because they can cosplay as her.

The thing is FF13 fans are a little selfish in my opinion, they know it's not very well liked but are determined to defend the game yet if we all move on together we could of had Versus by now...a true FF game.

wolfpac_1014129d ago

"The thing is FF13 fans are a little selfish in my opinion, they know it's not very well liked but are determined to defend the game yet if we all move on together we could of had Versus by now...a true FF game."

But if Versus came out chances are you'd bitch about that too, so, it don't really matter ...

DragonKnight4129d ago

@wolfpac_101: Uh, no. See, unlike Toriyama, Nomura is interested in making an actual RPG game. Nomura is NOT interested in taking the RPG genre and making it conform to shooter genre design. Everything we know of Versus XIII points to it being the real deal. It's got Kingdom Hearts style combat with older FF style world design (that doesn't necessarily mean a world map though). In fact the only thing we barely know about Versus XIII is the characters and plot. We can clearly see that Versus XIII is a superior experience to the entire FFXIII trilogy unless Wada forced Nomura to change it in the past 2 years.

Lightning Returns shouldn't exist, period. And with each FF game Toriyama is allowed to direct, he moves it further away from basic RPG staples because he doesn't want the player to have the kind of control an RPG affords. He flat out said he likes how shooters don't give the player story based control and how they are forced to move along with the story. That's why the FFXIII trilogy sucks.

ILive4129d ago

You guys sound like a bunch of whiney idiots. You read a little bit of information and you already started making stupid comments? Can we let the games release first? Seriously, you people really need to go shove your fantasy 13 series hate up your ass...like way up there. It's starting to get really annoying. You know little of versus, and its already the best final fantasy game ever made.

DragonKnight4129d ago (Edited 4129d ago )

@ILive: "You guys sound like a bunch of whiney idiots. You read a little bit of information and you already started making stupid comments? Can we let the games release first?"

Guess what, same thing was said about Final Fantasy XIII. Everyone thought it was going to be great from what we were shown and how did that turn out? Well, we're through letting SE get a pass for their B.S. and if you don't like that, well that's just T.S. isn't it? FFXIII sucked, XIII-2 sucked a little less but still sucked, why should we sit by and expect this game to be any better given the information we've received is showing it to be much worse? If you are incapable of seeing that, then that's your problem to fix, not ours. It's obvious that this is just more of the same crap from Toriyama, wanting to make FF more like a shooter than an RPG. Dude said it himself.

"Seriously, you people really need to go shove your fantasy 13 series hate up your ass...like way up there. It's starting to get really annoying. You know little of versus, and its already the best final fantasy game ever made."

If you like being fed sh*t that tries to pass off as games, go ahead and waste your money and give sh*tty developers their ego boost. The rest of us actually want our money to go to something worthwhile and have some standards and memory of what FF used to be. So take your apologiser attitude and send fan mail to SE, and when this game sucks worse than anything you've ever played, I expect your mouth to be shut.

@AdmiralSnake: -WTF are you talking about? I never said Nomura said anything. Toriyama is the one who said he wanted FF to be more like shooters. If you don't believe me, the information is freely available to you on google.

-Looking over my posts, I haven't used the word selfish anywhere. I implied low standards from people, and that's about it. So, if you want to make stuff up go ahead, but you just look stupid doing so.

-We know enough about Versus to know it's better than the entirety of the FFXIII trilogy. We've seen combat, and know that it's better. We've seen exploration and know that it's better. Every piece of info we do have about Versus shows it's a metric fuc*ton better than the entirety of the FFXIII trilogy including this upcoming turd.

-Gee, I wonder why we're saying the same thing? It couldn't possibly have to do with SE giving us the same garbage over and over right? Nah, that's not it. /s

-Because you have pathetic standards for games when you want to see more of the same instead of something different.

-Again, you must not be old enough to actually comprehend that Square-Enix are developing terrible games and calling them Final Fantasy. I actually should rephrase that, PARTS of Square-Enix are developing terrible games and calling them Final Fantasy. The proof is in how terrible Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2, XIV (before the complete redo), and this upcoming turd are. Just because you have poor taste in Final Fantasy games doesn't mean that everyone does. You may want to play Lighting Dresses Up: Final Fantasy XIII, but the rest of us want to play something better.

Root4129d ago (Edited 4129d ago )

Here they come, as always FF13 white knights who instead of offering their opinion just give out insults and start personal attacking people who speak negative about it despite that being OUR opinion

Seriously look at most of the comments, they're all aggresive

"came out chances are you'd b**** about that too"

"You guys sound like a bunch of whiney idiots"

"started making stupid comments"

"series hate up your ass...like way up there"

Instead of personal attacks we get immature comments like AdmiralSnakes

"IT GETS OLD AND TIRESOME, especially these stupid replies."

SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT

You guys can say how it looks good, awesome, brillaint, fantastic, promising etc DESPITE not playing the game yourself yet you call us for say how good Versus looks when we havent played on it OR the fact that we are hating on FF13-3..

Your a bunch of Hypocrites

4129d ago
Root4129d ago (Edited 4129d ago )

@AdmiralSnake

Oh my god...what are you 12, AdmiralSnake the keyboard warrior.

"You and many others literally come on here with the disagree and troll comments on every single article."

"We already know you and many others hate the game, however many others love the game"

"I know plenty of people who hate FF13, however one thing they don't do is attack people who love it"

and we know how much you love it...works both ways

The people who hate it don't comment on the people who love it and start an argument

YOU GUYS start the arguments by not letting us have our opinions, you can't help but comment on our posts like what your doing now

"OMG you said something negative about FF13...YOUR stupid, you suck, your a troll" so on...

"gtfo calling me a hypocrite."

YOU ARE ONE though, mostly all of you guys are. As I've said you guys say how great it looks then when we call it you say how can we judge when we havent seen it.....so you can judge it but we can't......so yeah your a hypocrite.

"You speak an opinion as if its a fact.....I speak my opinion as simply an opinion. There's a BIG difference between me and you guys"

No I speak my opinion as an opinion your the one who canme onto my posts and got your panties in a twist and started to throw crap around....

Honestly mate you disgust me...so delusional.

Rynocirator4129d ago

I think it is pretty funny that people hate lightning but love cloud...lawl same person except one has boobs. I would rather play 20 games with lightning in them than to see cloud one more time. Having said that I don't want to play this game at all.

8bitHero4129d ago

@Rynocirator
well im no cloud fanboy(i prefer zack, but then again crisis core was the first game i played within the FF7 universe) and unlike lightning cloud actually has a reason to be depressed(imo). where as lightning acts emo solely to be another cloud(which SE has openly admitted that lightning was designed to basically be a female cloud.) plus the supporting cast isnt interesting(the girl with the Australian accent;she was the fucking worse -.-) and the combat is dull. there was nothing about ff13 that was good(except the music and graphics; these days those 2 things are the only thing ff does right anymore

but still i was willing to give ff13-2 a try, and as soon as i had to do a quick time event i immediately quit the game and never bothered with that shit again. if i wanted quick time events i'd go play any modern action game.

N4GDgAPc4129d ago

@Root
Read what you wrote before you speak. Everything you say like its fact. No where did I read where it was your opinion. You pertty much wrote our opinions are wrong and you are right. Yea we know you hate it but don't go on and say they didn't deliver to all of us when I think they did.
And how many people do you know. Make it sound like you know about 1 million FF fans. Guess whats suprissing. Pretty much all my friends played past FF games and love FF13 and Lightnings Character.
And we don't care that you don't like it, its just when you come on board and state that we are wrong and everyone hates the game. Not everyone hates it. There is just a lot more FF fans they need to please. No game is ever going to satisfy everyone.

oricon4129d ago

The hate for this is just stupid, Nomuras team is not working on this game and i see a lot of stupid comments like saying "they should focus on Versus a true FF game" the comment just shows how you don't know anything about FF because versus is not meant to be a traditional FF game.

This is what i hate about the game industry with people love to hate, i wonder how it feels for people who work on games seeing comments like this, its stupid that this game is always on the top stories list on the site just because of hate.

The Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy Deserves a Remaster

Final Fantasy 13 was first introduced to us back in 2009, almost four years after Final Fantasy 12 was released, and fans had been eagerly anticipating the next installment. But when it finally arrived, there were mixed reactions, including complaints about its linearity, the lack of towns and NPCs, and the limited control over the characters. At the time, Square Enix kept its game production behind closed doors and didn't take in a lot of feedback — especially from Western fans.

The game has been revisited by many different Final Fantasy fans since then, and some, like myself, have come to love it again. Almost all staple entries in the series have found their way to modern consoles, so it's about time that the FF13 trilogy gets a remaster

I've been thinking about this. I agree. While I really disliked it at first I never played it again. After hating ff15 so damn much I just think it can't be worse then 15 and if I'm not mistaken atleast it's turn based. I need more of that in my life.

nitus10320d ago

I actually finished FFXIII and on the second playthrough found I actually liked the game.

Actually I have liked most of the FF games (I have not played FFIX unfortunately) and I do agree with you with regards to FFXV. Graphically IMHO FFXV is excelent but for some reason I just could not get enthusiastic in playing it.

As for "turn-based", I prefer active and real time although to be fair "turn-based" is a real plus especially when confronting a difficult protagonist. I found this to be especially the case when playing FFXXII where you could switch rapidly between "turn" and "active" although having a resonable knowledge of simple Boolean Algebra is IMHO essential when playing this game.

319d ago
Levii_92319d ago

Ridiculous comment, first of all i think you should replay 15, second of all that game is 10 times better than the XIII games especially the royal edition. And third .. turn based combat is a dying (almost dead) style of gameplay and i personally wont miss it at all so don’t act like that is some sort of big plus because XIII has it.. it is not.

jambola319d ago

Somebody needs to learn about subjective taste

shinoff2183319d ago

Ff15

Sucked imo. I don't need to give it another try. Last time was the 3rd time and I had 34 hours into it. It just wasn't good imo

Chriswynnetbh319d ago

How is turn based dying or almost dead? Pokémon is one of the biggest RPGs in the world and is and has always been turn based. To some it is a plus especially when it comes to FF since the first 10 of them all are and are arguably better games than any FF to come after

CDbiggen319d ago

XV was rubbish, but understandable given the development hell. That overworld for me is the biggest example, so strangely designed and empty. And parts of the story awkwardly cut for DLC, most egregious being that prompto part where he's like "I'm a clone", or whatever he was (it was that forgettable), and the other guys basically shrugging it off.

Tapani319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

Turn-based is alive and well: Pokemon, Dragon Quest, XCom, Civilization, Homeworld, Age of Wonders, Total War, Original Sin, Baldur's Gate, Warhammer, Yu-Gi-Oh, Company of Heroes, Wasteland, Pathfinder, Disco Elysium, Octopath Traveler, Chained Echoes and many, many more great games, both new and old, franchises and new IPs are selling well, reviewing well and sequels are coming.

If you don't play the game, maybe the turn-based has just died in/for you, but certainly the genre has never been so alive as in 2023! Plus, when you look at Final Fantasy franchise, it started going down in quality when it left turn-based combat behind. FFXVI may redeem some of the glory (and FFXIV was great), but the turn-based games were higher rated and deeper in terms of gameplay and had more interesting things to do in the world.

DarXyde319d ago

I'd say Persona 5 is one of the best of the best games in a couple of decades.

I don't think you manage that with a dying gameplay format.

shinoff2183319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

Levii92

Turn based is way funner imo then just some hack n slash rpg. I like both but prefer turn based.

Far as dying I doubt it. It's also kinda funny cause the best final fantasy have been turn based. Ff still to this day can't top ff6 through ff9. Interesting.

Far as someone who brought up persona 5. I dislike the art style so I've yet to play it but I'd throw dq11 in there. Best jrpg I've played in fkin years. Over a decade.

Last I was a bit iffy on chained echoes because of the sp and no traditional leveling system. I recently bought it. Looks gorgeous, story is fantastic so far, but I cannot for the life of me get over how much I truly hate the leveling system. It's just flat out whack to me. I'm still going to finish it cause unlike ff15 atleast chained echoes doesn't feel like a chore

goldwyncq318d ago

The XIII series (especially Lightning Returns) has far better combat than XV, and you don't need to watch an anime and a movie to make sense of the story.

FinalFantasyFanatic318d ago (Edited 318d ago )

15 was only fun for derping about in the wilderness, at least FF13 had a better story and was more coherent overall (plot, characters, gameplay, world, ect...).

15 was just beautify garbage, so much wasted potential, the Duke Nukem Forever of the FF franchise.

I really loved Persona 5, can't wait for P6 to be announced, I'd love ports of the first few games (we already have P3P/P4G/P5R available on almost everything now).

Not really

Let them move on and focus on good FF games

Hofstaderman319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

Thank you. A ton of FFXIII articles recently. Most of the people who like this game are not old enough to have played 4 to 9. Even 10 and 12 are vastly superior to this game. That being said a remaster would then make all the FF titles available on the PS platform.

jambola319d ago

Citation needed
Do you have some kind of official survey of ff 13 fans ages?
Would love a link
Also, all games are available on multiple systems, re released many times
"Not old enough" doesn't even make much sense

shinoff2183319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

That was part of what I was trying to say. I've gave 15 3 try ff13 deserves atleast a second. And like I said I could use some turn based in my life

I've also played through or played all of the ff games starting with ff1 way way way back.

goldwyncq318d ago

"Good" is subjective. I love FFIX but I know many fans who don't like it for the art style and the slow combat.

I_am_Batman319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

Recently replayed them and I agree a remaster would be great. The complaints about linearity are fair, but they only really apply to the first half of the first game and while I agree that it would've been nice to have proper towns, minigames and subquests, it didn't detract from the intriguing story, interesting characters, tactical gameplay and amazing soundtrack in my opinion.

XIII-2 fixes a lot of the issues of XIII and expands on the story in interesting ways. The combat and progression builds on top of the systems of XIII and the nonlinearity and discoverability of secrets is a big inprovement over the original game. It's easily the best game of the trilogy.

Lightning Returns was probably a bit too experimental for it's own good. It tried to reinvent the wheel for no reason. The solo party for most of the game and the outfit based combat felt like a downgrade over XIII-2 combat system. It does have a unique vibe, but the plot kinda goes off the rails and many of the story beats didn't land as much for me as they did in the first two games. The race against time aspect was an interesting idea, but it never felt like it mattered, because it wasn't much of a challenge to manage the remaining time even while doing all the subquests.

Eonjay319d ago

XIII-2 is one of the greatest games ever.

Snookies12319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

XIII-2 is by far the best of the trilogy. Went out of my way to get the Platinum trophy on it. Which is actually a fun one to go for. Didn't take too long, only about 70-80 hours to accomplish. Loved every second of it though.

Youngindy21319d ago

I don't think linearity is a fair critique, when every FF up until that point was fairly linear esp. in the first half of the game. People herald FF VII(including the remake), but it is just as linear as FFXIII was. The linearity complaints came at a time when open-world games were just starting to become a thing and people thought every game should be open-world, but now that every game is, people now want more linear experiences. Go Figure.

shinoff2183319d ago

Ff10 was pretty linear to. Haven't played through all of 13 but 10 was linear as fk until the end

I_am_Batman319d ago

Totally agree. I never fully understood why 10 was so universally praised when it had many of the same design philosophies xiii is criticized for.

CDbiggen319d ago (Edited 319d ago )

I felt the same for the most part except the LR combat system. I thought it was an upgrade on the party of three system the previous two games had as now you had more control over your moves with different sets being an L1/R1 click away, and could move the single character around in battle and attack limbs or tails of certain enemies, or reduce the distance between you and an enemy you're after saving ATB.

I_am_Batman319d ago

LR combat certainly has it's merits. I would've preferred it if it wasn't tied to the costumes which can make Lightning look quite ridiculous and out of place sometimes though.

But mainly I would've preferred to see an evolution of XIII-2 systems. Since they are so different it's obviously just a preference. Can't really compare them objectively.

CDbiggen319d ago

Yeah I get ya, and I can totally see why the costume part got to people. I'm someone that doesn't care what the character looks like as long as I'm happy with the stats (looking at Xenoblade). LR to me is just one of those odd games that I can't help respect for mixing things up, even if the outcome wasn't the best lol. But yeah too different to compare.

sadraiden318d ago

Why would a remaster be great? They exist in HD, on a console that is still compatible with modern televisions, and you just replayed it.

I_am_Batman318d ago

I replayed them on my PS3. I just think it would make sense for those games to be more accessible to Playstation gamers, which is where the majority of the modern FF fanbase is (due to the exclusivity deals of VII Re and XVI).

Why The Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy Has Some of The Best Music In The Series

As we celebrate Final Fantasy’s 35th anniversary, let’s look back at the underrated soundtracks of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy.

game-grooves.com
goldwyncq476d ago

It really does. Caius’ theme is still one of the best villain themes ever.

SeTTriP476d ago

Barthandelus is a great boss theme to.

Snookies12476d ago

Come on... Even haters of Final Fantasy XIII have to admit the soundtrack really was great. There are some parts of the OST that stand out among even Nobuo's work.

CrimsonWing69476d ago

The battle themes are pretty amazing, man.

gold_drake476d ago

sat what you want about the games, but the soundtrack has always been good.

MehmetAlperTR476d ago

Agreed... Legendary Nobuo Uematsu was not involved with FF13.. So that has got terrible musics.

jambola476d ago

so any game without no Uematsu has terrible music?

MehmetAlperTR475d ago (Edited 475d ago )

@Jambola nope... But in PS1 era we played FF7-8-9 and in a PS2 era FF10... They were all involved with Uematsu San. We grove up with him and his musics.. SO FF means, him and his music to us.

-Foxtrot477d ago

It's alright but I mean with so many other FF games it's not even in the top 10 for me

You just can't beat IX, VII, X and my personal favourite VIII when it comes to music

Even the theme song sucks, instead of just having an English version of the Japanese theme they got X Factors Leona Lewis to do the song which didn't sound like FF theme song.

FinalFantasyFanatic476d ago

Yeah, that ending song was terrible, I'll never be able to fathom why that was chosen, it feels so out of place with that game.

RedDevils476d ago

Lol is was my wtf moment.

SoulWarrior477d ago

I agree, regardless of the general consensus of the game itself, FF rarely lets down when it comes to the music at least.

porkChop477d ago

Nah. VIII has the best music in the series. IX is a close second.

Hofstaderman476d ago

Yes; eyes one me, man with the machine gun, waltz to the moon, the oath, maybe I’m a lion…FF8 has the best music in the series by far. I have the original OST, the orchestra arrangement, the piano arrangement, the Black Mages tracks and a few other albums. My four disc original OST is my pride and joy.

ManMarmalade476d ago

I agree on VIII. I've started growing really fond of X's lately.

GoodGuy09477d ago

Music was pretty good yes. Pretty much all FFs do even the crappy ones lol.

13-2 battle system was great. Collecting monster and upgrading them was fun. I liked FF X-2 gameplay as well because of monsters.

Interesting.. I am one of the few I guess who actually enjoyed 13.. never tried 13-2 though.. maybe I should give it a shot.
