2012 has certainly been a strong year for gaming. We have seen some fantastic titles released across many platforms and shortly, you’ll see our picks for the Game of the Year awards coming soon to Daily Joystick Podcasts. However, today we’re looking towards the future, well just one year into the future to see what 2013 will bring us in terms of gaming. There are many unknowns for 2013, especially with expectations from gamers that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 will hit shelves, however we still need games to run on our current or next generation consoles. So without further waiting, here are some of the staff picks for most anticipated games for 2013 (so far and in no particular order).
Gears of War: Judgment launched 10 years ago today, and quickly became one of the most misunderstood titles in the series.
Easily the best control-wise of the series. Judgment introduced melee-ing with the lancer and is still the only installment of the series (to date) which enables you to change weapons while roadie running simultaneously.
Gears 2&5 are the worst controlling in the series.
The Arcady aspects of the campaign should have been unlocked after completing a campaign play through. Seeing score screen after battles caused awkward pacing. The multiplayer was too different from other Gears games.
Judgment felt more like an expansion than an actually game. To me, I was fatigued from the series at that point. The story was ok, over all it wasn’t bad.
If EA and Motive Studio plan on remaking all the main Dead Space entries, they have to change a lot of what made Dead Space 3 so divisive.
Simple, do not bother with a Dead Space 3 remake. Rather have a new entry for Dead Space.
Remaking 3 would need to be a reworked and somewhat changed remake as 3 was flawed in most peoples eyes and the worst entry.
WTMG's Kyle Nicol:
"Was Dead Space 3 really that bad?
Well, it’s a complicated question. Dead Space 3 is undeniably the weakest of the trilogy. It’s a game that deviates so far from the original formula, that it throws a lot of what made Dead Space special in the first place out of the window. Although, where it does make up for it is one of the best cooperative shooters on the market, even after all this time. Do I recommend playing this game ten years later? Hell yes. But make sure your expectations are in the right place. It has a lot of problems that bring it down."
So far, this is the best list yet. Others list many games, others omit super games thats going to sell like mad & be played for the entire year.
You guys missed 1 game:
Bungies new title; people want to see that. Also, The Last of Us & GOW:Ascension.
My top:
GTA5
Gears Judgment
Splinter Cell:Blacklist
Bioshock Infinite
Glad you guys enjoyed our list. :)
Can't lie: I'm looking forward to Army of Two.
Nobody likes any of the PS3 exclusives coming out next year? Not that I've got any problems with the games chosen. Just curious.
We each only picked 4 titles, but I was seriously considering "The Last Of Us" on PS3.
I forgot about GTAV :(
