BD writes: I wish every horror game I enjoyed got a sequel. Even games like BioShock, which don’t really need sequels. If I like it, I usually want more of it, even if it’s only to see where a developer can take their series. Unfortunately, while the slate of releases might suggest otherwise (Black Ops II, Halo 4, Assassin’s Creed III, Resident Evil 6, etc.) it’s difficult for a game to get a sequel, especially in the midst of a new generation of consoles. The problem is studios need to make money, and unless the game has a substantial following or is accessible to a wide audience, potential for a sequel isn’t great.
If you’re reading this, then you’re probably a fan of the horror genre, so you’re undoubtedly aware that when it comes to accessibility, the horror genre (in video games, at least) isn’t exactly known for being welcoming to newcomers. Here are ten games that I think could actually sell well, if they’re given the second chance they deserve.
CGM Writes: While we were over at PAX East, we were able to sit down with Goichi Suda (Suda51) and talk about the upcoming remaster of Shadows of the Damned
Game Rant talked to Suda51 about a potential sequel to Shadows of the Damned, and here's what he had to say.
Man, I’d love to get a sequel. I wish that’s was this was instead of a remaster, but it’s such a niche title. It won’t sell gamgbusters, unfortunately.
Got that retro survival horror bug? Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best survival horror games from yesteryear.
Eternal Darkness was way ahead of its time especially for a Nintendo exclusive.
I would love to see a remake or sequel (multiplatform)
4 people love Eternal Darkness.
Quick! Jump on that remake, whoever holds the rights these days.
ZombiU :D
shadows of the damned is one of the most underrated games this gen.
I'm counting on Shadow of The Damned .
But Where the F is Parasite Eve from that list !!?
Eternal Drakness 2 could sell on the WiiU maybe if Nintendo has enough old school fans left. Personally I switched to the PS3 after the Gamecube because I could see how conservative Nintendo had become.
There's a possibility that there are enough Playstation players who might be interested in Eternal Darkness 2 because if they owned a PS2 they were used to a high number of old school survival horror games.
But I liked the first game for its settings, sound (inc voice acting) and cut scenes but didn't like casting spells as I am not a RPG fan. The visuals were fine although they were actually tarted up N64 graphics.
I don't necessarily see it selling enough though because the RPG elements were a bit offputting to me compared to, say, Silent Hill.
