Pennsylvania home invasion victim gets help over Xbox headset

Police say a Pennsylvania man used his Xbox headphones to call for help after being bound with duct tape and menaced with a gun during a home invasion.

Gazondaily4144d ago

I don't get it; why couldn't he call the police himself?

I_LOVE_MYSELF4144d ago

There could be any number of situational reasons. The main thing is that he is safe and well.

KidBroSweets24143d ago

It said he was bound, did it not? Therefore, tied up.

BattleAxe4143d ago

"DUDE, these A-Holes are going to f**k up my K/D ratio in Halo 4! Call the cops for me!"

Tres214144d ago

im guessin from what they said he was already playin so he was prob online wit a friend then they tied him up. so since it might be kinda hard 2 get 2 the phone tied up he just started yellin at his headset til his buddy got the clue what was up.

Gazondaily4144d ago

Ah fair enough, that might explain it.

ABizzel14144d ago (Edited 4144d ago )

I don't understand why the thief didn't steal the Xbox. Maybe he's more of a Nintendo or PlayStation man.

Lvl_up_gamer4143d ago

Why XBL is better then PSN....

PARTY CHAT/CROSS GAME CHAT.

It could save your life.

ABizzel14143d ago

His life wasn't in jeopardy unless he potentially suffocated. By the time he got help from XBL the thief had already left in his car.

frankiebeans4144d ago (Edited 4144d ago )

wow thats awesome.

mshope104144d ago

I'm from Pittsburgh and saw this story and my local news this morning.I think the Guy took his cell phone.and he might of been online and his friend heard the whole thing and called the police.

video games saving the world one person at a time.

his Xbox live was definitely worth 60 a year.

Knight_Crawler4144d ago

I would not say it saved his life as the robber only left him died up and ran away with the loot.

By then again he could have probably have starved to death if he was tied up and no one came to visit him.

Strange that the thief did not take the Xbox (Insert Xbox joke here)

Tres214144d ago

whats funny is i was thinkin of makin an xbox joke bout how the robbers were lik ahhh its just an xbox dont waste ur time.lol but 4 real tho i wonder what he had there that made them go thru all that

Ben_Grimm4144d ago (Edited 4144d ago )

Lucky the 360 has cross game chat to hit his homies up who were playing something else!

BLKxSEPTEMBER4144d ago

Lmao take that ps3 fanboys!!!

Lord_Sloth4144d ago

He was probably playing CoD of Battlefield or something so Cross Game chat probably wasn't needed since said buddy was likely in the room.

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

ZeekQuattro3h ago

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Knightofelemia1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

Terry_B55m ago

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff218350m ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

Asplundh34m ago

Because Nintendo funded it, they did the same for Bayonetta.

Knightofelemia17m ago

I totally forgot about the Switch sequel.

jukins45m ago

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

Abnor_Mal6m ago

The first game was the best imo.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil4d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing693d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle3d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa3d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing13d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
