I miss flipping monsters in the air.

Please don't give Capcom anymore reboot ideas :P I still love that game and play it on my old dependable ps2.

Bathyj4144d ago (Edited 4144d ago )

Youre probably right.

I would have much preferred Onimusha to DMC, but maybe we should keep at least one pleasant memory intact.

Still, they havent destroyed 1942, Ghost n Goblins or Strider yet this gen have they?

Oops, I said too much.

dredgewalker4144d ago

Onimusha has better sequels than DMC so it's understandable that we like it more than DMC. I love how they intoduced different play mechanics with each sequel.

AsimLeonheart4144d ago

Loved Onimusha, especially teh second part. Really liked doing Issens (counters) :-)
This game (DmC) is going to flop hard no matter how much the media tries to make it the best DMC game ever. It is not even in the TOP 30 pre-order list at VGChartz which shows the lack of anticipation for this game. Games which are more than a year away have more pre-orders than this. In addition to rebooting the whole story and characters, the gameplay has been severely dumbed down. It isnt deep or better, it is just EASY and that is why many are loving it. They can pull combos the first time they start playing the game while the enemy just stands there and they feel like instant pros.

I tried the demo and think it's a mediocre game, not bad just mediocre, I'll buy it at a bargain bin price (which won't take long because this game is going to bomb and probably finish off the franchise).

God of War: Ascension and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will more than make up for this disappointing game so my hack 'n slash fix for next year is sill looking good.

I'm looking forward to those 2 and Metal Gear Rising to scratch my hack 'n slash itch next year. Can't wait!

That's generally the problem I have with the game as well. I have tried looking passed every complaint I had regarding the games looks and mechanics, but sadly the combat just comes off as being mediocre and clunky. Especially when DMC3 set the benchmark for the series and then Ninja Gaiden 2 and God of War 3 being at the top in action adventure games.

SAE4144d ago (Edited 4144d ago )

exactly , just buy it used and judge by your self without supporting this ...
i for one liked the demo but i think it's easy as hell , that's my problem with the games now , they make them easier to get more sales or something like that , they dont try to make a masterpiece ..

but don't do this with mg rising , it's a great game from great developers , they didn't fight the fans because it's a new ip from an old character ,, it even have different gameplay so don't compare it :) ...

Blacklash934144d ago

The enemy designs are really bland. That's not something I like saying about a Devil May Cry game.

landog4144d ago (Edited 4144d ago )

i have to be honest, i love devil may cry, actually playing part 4 again on pc for like the thrid time, have played 1 and 3 on ps2 and pcsx2 many, many times (we will pretend part 2 never happened)

at first i was very annoyed with the new dante, and still think he looks stupid and wrong and annoying, BUT....after seeing some gameplay, I think, no matter what i will rent the game for my ps3!

if it is really good (fingers crossed) I'll buy it for pc when it hits $20

lets hope they pull off that magic dmc feeling!

and onimusha....drool...love it, 1,2,and 3....4 was kinda...mehh imo

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

Friendlygamer21m ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them
