BioShock Infinite Will Have Reversible Box Art

IGN: Irrational has announced that BioShock Infinite will have reversible box art. After the game’s box art was shown off earlier this month, some fans weren't impressed and Irrational is now letting them vote for what they’d like to see on the other side.

Seriously, after the reaction to the initial box art, who didn't see this coming?

Kingdom Come4146d ago (Edited 4146d ago )

It's great that Irrational is catering for those of who have requested alternative covers nonetheless, despite how ridiculously overblown the entire situation has been. As for the alternatives themselves, I love the propaganda-like artwork of the Songbird covers, they're stunning. I also believe the second Dewitt/Elisabeth cover to be a much stronger identity for "Bioshock Infinite"'s box art, showing both characters emphasises that the game will be massively character driven and that the game has heart and isn't just a trigger-happy shooter.

This is brillaint

This is why people need to complain more over things which they don't like, if no one said anything then we would of gotten nothing.

Sure it's such a small thing but it just shows you how much gamers can do when they speak out. I just hate those who tell people to shut up or that they are crybabies.

I would choose this one

or for it's artistic look

the second pic looks pretty sweet

Ducky4146d ago

Some credit should also go to Irrational for finding a way to please the fans over a relatively trivial matter.

As for the cover, I'm having a hard time picking between the two artistic ones. =/

Pozzle4146d ago

Oh, I really like the second artistic one.

If it was sitting on a game store shelf, both artistic cones would definitely catch my eye.

StrawberryDiesel4204146d ago

Still would have gotten an amazing game. Art is awesome but was the cover so bad that they had to do this?? Were these "fans" going to pass on the game because of the box art?? The average gamer is such a homo.

Roccetarius4145d ago

I would've chosen this one as well.

http://oyster.ignimgs.com/w...

That or the second one you linked. It sends a better message about the game for me.

Conzul4144d ago

Wish there was a horizontal version of the 2nd artistic one, that would be on my PS3 background faster than greased lightning....

Oh_Yeah4146d ago

Box art doesn't really matter to me, though I do find it corny when they put a character on box art.

Blacklash934145d ago (Edited 4145d ago )

I see no reason to complain about more stuff for your money. There's been a few games I've flipped the cover for because I liked the back one better.

I'm voting for #4 with Songbird. He's basically the new Big Daddy and I think it would fit in very well next to Bioshock 1's cover (to have him the poster-whateverthatis). The exact art in question here isn't what I'd call perfect, but what can you do?

Ideally I'd have the box art get Songbird taking a menacing, vaguely oppressive stance with a depressed/frightened Elizabeth under him. Maybe Booker in the backround making his way toward them on a skyline with a representative glance of Columbia on the side. It would relate the game's characters and setting in a single badass image with parallels to the original Bioshock's box art to boot.

This whole situation is getting a bit ridiculous.

StrawberryDiesel4204146d ago

Yes, I'd personally rather have the game amazingly polished, they should worry about that first. If this game ends up not being nearly as good as the original Bioshock we'll still have the double sided box art right???

mynameisEvil4146d ago

What, do you REALLY think they've halted game development over the box? No, the art team is pretty much already done. So, rather than have them sit on their asses all day doing absolutely nothing, bored out of their minds, they can actually draw and make some cover art.

Besides, the art you see in this article have been completed for at least 6 months. Hell, we know some of that art was used for the GameInformer covers from early 2011. Nothing is detracting from time spent polishing the game people, so calm your dicks. The game will be as good as it was always going to be. :P

GreenRanger4146d ago

I won't be satisfied until the cover has three sides.

Anon19744146d ago (Edited 4146d ago )

I won't be happy until games come with those fold in covers, like MAD magazine.

Double_Oh_Snap4146d ago (Edited 4146d ago )

Vote, I choose 6 and either that or #4 should have been boxart imo.

Conzul4144d ago

Oh God yes, SIX!

4 will win though, it's ahead by 10% and 6 is in 2nd place :(

No mp, 1999 mode, and reversible better box art....goty already. Irrational gets loads of respect.

Top 10 Rarest Xbox 360 Games That Are Worth a Fortune

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

Soy268d ago

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz267d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher267d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

Soy267d ago

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

jznrpg267d ago (Edited 267d ago )

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
