Online Petition demanding Dark Souls II for Wii U

Christopher Marcil has started an online petition demanding Dark Souls 2 for Nintendo Wii U. Recently at VGA 2012, Namco Bandai and From Software announced Dark Souls 2 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, but nothing was said whether the game will launch on Wii U or not.

I think a Souls game could work quite well on Wii U, once the developers don't make a half-assed port of it. I could see incredible potential for Miiverse and this game as well. A petition worked for a PC release of Dark Souls so maybe if the support is large enough we could see a Wii U version.

I see there being a really good chance of seeing Dark Souls II on Wii U. Namco Bandai and Nintendo have a really good relationship. Look at how they added Nintendo exclusive features to Tekken Tag 2, and they are also co developing the next Super Smash Bros game. they've also worked with Nintendo in the past and have worked on Nintendo franchises like Star Fox, Donkey Konga, Mario Baseball, ect. with the Wii U being more than capable to run the game, and Namco and Nintendo's good relationship, I'd be surprised if it wasn't ported.

Just was thinking about this last night. I think it would be really cool, but what could they put on the screen? I guess inventory could work, but it's nothing too special.

herbs4148d ago

The Gamepad would be great for sending messages, hand written or even comical stick man drawings depicting the traps and dangers ahead could be awesome hilarious fun. Also being able to managing your inventory and stats on it would be a nice addition.

"According to this warning there's yet another penis trap ahead." -The results of letting ANYBODY draw ANYTHING in ANY game.

If you want this game buy a PS3 and play it. No big problem version will be made. There just won't be enough demand for it.

animegamingnerd4149d ago

what about the PC version of dark souls there was demand for it and we got it

dgonza404149d ago

Yeah, but the install base is bigger.. There was a lot more demand on pc than there will be on wii U. Still agreed with your comment, but I'm not sure if wii u has the numbers to justify it. Would be nice though

Brownghost4148d ago

same was said about it for pc, but the petition succeeded and it was ported to pc.

Why even bother having individual consoles if the only games people really give a shit about are multiplatform...

Ducky4149d ago (Edited 4149d ago )

It's already multiplatform to begin with.

Why deprive others from experiencing the game?

ThatEnglishDude4149d ago

I get what you're saying, and I do agree to an extent - It's just that I see more multiplatforms nowadays than anything. It just begs the question I posted originally: why bother having multiple systems on the market if we are all going to have the same games anyway (for the most part) might as well just make one console.

I guess I'm comparing this to the days of PS1/N64 or SNES/MegaDrive. They had games for their own respective audience. I understand there are still exclusives out there, but there just doesn't seem to be any point in having 3 or 4 major systems if the majority of games are on each of them. Maybe that's a good thing, I don't know? Just an observation is all.

I Wish More Games Embraced FromSoft's Approach To Difficulty

Danish from eXputer: "FromSoftware's unique approach to difficulty in their games allows players to customize their own experience, which is really cool."

Einhander197212d ago (Edited 12d ago )

"Souls Like" is a literal genre.

I'd just like to point out that Rise of the Ronin which recently released is in large part a Souls Like as is the upcoming Stellar Blade. And both games have 60 FPS.

ShwaaMan12d ago

More? Like every other game in the last
5 years has “Souls” elements or difficulty. I think we need to pump the brakes a bit Jesus they don’t all the the “grind or die”/“get good” mentality.

exputers12d ago

I would advise reading the article. What you're saying is not the point we tried to make.

GhostScholar12d ago

Yeah let’s have only souls likes 🙄

Is It Time For FromSoftware To Move Beyond The Souls Formula?

Danish from eXputer: "With FromSoftware getting new directors, it might be time for the studio to take a break from its iconic Soulslike games."

isarai30d ago

Already have, Amored Core 🤷‍♂️

blackblades30d ago

That's what I was going to say. Also they good at souls and they usually different in away then each other. The real thing to say is when the industry going to move from souls formula. I see almost every week theres a new souls games announced this week was bleak faith

MrWood28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

Totally disagree. There are not enough souls likes, and good ones at that! Rarely are they announced… Bleak Faith for example is an old game. I literally bought and beat that game about a year ago. It’s rouguelites and metroidvanias that are announced weekly.

blackblades28d ago

@MrWood
This a lot of souls games out as I said they are announced about every week. Matter fact I just heard about another moments of writing this.

Jingsing28d ago

They make Armored Core like once in a blue moon.

GoodGuy0930d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Honestly I want more lol. Plenty of different settings, time periods, fantasies, and myths they can still use.

Nacho_Z28d ago

Agreed stick with what they do best just get creative with it. Who wouldn't want another game like Elden Ring but in a fresh setting.

thorstein30d ago

Armored Core and Elden Ring are both different than the Souls formula.

Souls formula: You Will Die. Gothic. Not open world. Punishing difficulty. The feeling that doing is completely on the player.

dxmol4_28d ago

From software can make as many souls games they want. It's the rest of the industry that needs to stop copying them.

Angyobangyo28d ago

There are have been great souls-like games from other developers. I say if another developer can put their own spin on the genre then I don't see the problem. I don't get the whole defensive gatekeeping. Nioh, Lies of P and Remanent are great games in that genre.
