Hardcore Kill Confirmed is in Black Ops 2, but what's next?

GameZone writes, "It's time to look to the future. If Treyarch is willing to add playlists, what could be next on their radar. There are far fewer players taking advantage of the Hardcore category compared to regular matches like Team Deathmatch and Hardpoint. But maybe if more was available for the category, then more people would start to play Hardcore."

ANYTHING they add to the game is moot until they fix the lag compensation/lag problems. The game is unplayable for most people that realize(understand) that their bullets aren't hitting due to the LC. Just read the forums. The game is broken until they fix it and it doesn't matter what game modes they add because the game simply isn't fun when other people have a half second+ advantage on you and their bullets hit where they aim.

At least, that's how it is on the PC. I haven't been paying attention to how it plays on the consoles.

porkChop4155d ago

I've got it on PC and I haven't noticed any lag compensation. I do know what it is though, Bad Company 2 had it hardcore for over a year til DICE got off their asses to fix it. In BC2 it was set to compensate for 100 ping at all times.

Veni Vidi Vici4155d ago (Edited 4155d ago )

Just check the Steam forums or COD forums. Just about every thread is about lag compensation. If you're not getting compensated then you must have a pretty bad connection or a poor computer because EVERY single person I know that plays it on PC has given up because of how bad it is.

There are videos on YouTube that show just how bad it is. You'll get shots off on your screen but when you watch the kill cam or go into Theater Mode and watch it again, there's so much LC that you don't even get your shots off. YOu'll never even see people come around a corner and kill you. On their screen, they see you with plenty of time to react and kill you. It's AWFUL. The game is broken and I'm not the only person that is saying this. Just read the forums.

Hell, people are resorting to net limiters to make their connection "seem" horrible so they don't get lag compensated. If people are doing that, the game is broken.

Regardless, I'm done with COD in general(so are my friends). Every single game after COD 4 has been a joke regarding lag. Whether they use P2P or dedicated servers with lag compensation, it doesn't matter. It has ruined the game. The game would be fun, otherwise.

I have a 35mbit connection, so my connection isn't bad at all. It's very good.

And poor PC? Core i5 2500k @5.0GHz, H100 liquid CPU cooler, GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II, Viper Xtreme 8GB 1600MHz CL8, 90GB Corsair FS3 Sata 3 SSD. Yeah, my PC isn't poor at all.

I'm not getting any lag compensation at all. When I shoot my bullets hit whatever I'm aiming at, I've never had any problems with reg. I guess I'm just lucky.

on the 360 it works perfectly and lag is rare (if there IS noticeable lag, the host migration usually soon follows). Glad about the addition to the Hardcore playlist.

Veni Vidi Vici4155d ago

It's not lag. There are dedicated servers for PC. It's the lag compensation. Basically, LC tries to even out any advantage people with better pings have. In MW3, if you were host, it would actually give you lag to make it more fair to the others that connected to you.

The problem is, BO2 has so much LC that it actually punishes people that have a good connection which is why people are resorting to using programs to limit their connection to simulate having an internet connection that is slow, therefore, the game won't "give" you lag.

MysticStrummer4155d ago

Ah yes, the always expected "It's perfect on 360" comment. Reminds me of Skyrim, with 360 folk on here declaring perfection, meanwhile the developers themselves had a lengthy list of problems they were trying to fix on all platforms.

spaceg0st4151d ago

referring to LAG, dumba**

lifesanrpg4155d ago

On Xbox 360 I get some pretty bad lag spikes every now and then. It usually lasts about a second.

What pisses me off when I randomly get disconnected and lose my stats for that match.

Xbox $70 billion bet paid out

fr0sty253d ago

Guess that's what happens when there's no good new games to play...

4Sh0w253d ago (Edited 253d ago )

Well regardless of exclusives, or whatever else there is to play on Xbox or ps, CoD has has still been the top selling game on ps platform since forever also.....so no surprise that the most popular game franchise on any console could easily have a revival due to servers coming back online...this is just credit to xbox backwards compatibility & thats good thing for Xbox gamers.

wiz7191253d ago

@Frosty orrrr maybe it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to go back to the peak of the series .. and it’s beem great lol

mkis007253d ago

It's going to take 10 years for xbox to generate that much profit...

Rhythmattic252d ago

Why worry when they have OS, Server and Background Data in their hands...
Gaming is just the small piece, at the top left in a few K piece jigsaw.

EasilyTheBest252d ago

If you buy a house with cash for 1 million dollars you still own the house. Microsoft don't need to make the money back.

Rhythmattic250d ago

But its not money back, its about how it goes missing.

jznrpg253d ago

Shooters is what Xbox people play most of the time and that’s about it by the numbers and sales of games.

shinoff2183253d ago

Atkeast older gamers nostalgia is good. Jeez.

Jin_Sakai253d ago

Mostly because the new CoD games are garbage. The old games were much better.

Rutaprkl253d ago

Agree 100%. Cod 4, WaW, Black ops 1 & 2, those were the days.

Rhythmattic252d ago

For MP, Unreal tournament , QIII Arena (loved the UT mod) FTW!

RaidenBlack252d ago

Unreal Tournament and Quake III were simply amazing ... CoD's and CoD-likes' rise killed the arena shooter popularity ...
Unreal Tournament 2004 is my favorite in the series.
Didn't enjoy Unreal Tournament III, Quake Champions that much.
Too bad Epic cancelled Unreal Tournament 2014 becoz of Fortnite

Rhythmattic252d ago (Edited 252d ago )

I got hooked on the QIII Urban Terror mod (and my work colleagues I introduced them to)... LAN Sessions at the closing of the doors at work, into the night , sinking beers and eating pizza..... Good times.

thesoftware730253d ago

Wow, good games never get old I guess.

CoD will always be a beast of a franchise, and how awesome is it that you can just boot it up or pop it into your Xbox and play, MS BC is really a neat feature.

CrimsonWing69253d ago

Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.

1Victor252d ago

@crimson:” Shows you that backwards compatibility is a worthwhile feature.”
I agree it’s worthy at the start of the generation when there’s few new generation games but halfway through the generation it’s not a feature.
Now it’s good that this game is finding a renewed life for its fan but it shows a mayor flaw in new games release when a close decade old game is toppling the charts

CrimsonWing69252d ago

I don't know if I understand what you mean. It's a feature regardless of the time into the generation.

Let's take Armored Core 6 for example. Let's say I'm interested in checking out the previous Armored Core games, sure would be nice if I could play them on my current-gen console.

We're about 3 years into current-gen and old games are hitting in the top 5 for sales charts in the month.

I do get where you're coming from with older games possibly being better than the newer games, but the feature stays the feature. I can only speak for myself, but when there's a lull in game releases or nothing great is out, I like to go back to old titles. It's just nice to not have to have a bunch of consoles out to do so.

I think moving forward it'll be less and less of an issue as like with the PS5 you can access most all of the PS4 games, but I like going back to PS1 and PS2. Would be awesome to kind of make backwards compatibility a prioritized feature moving forward. Hell, Sony was the first to implement it.
