Leaked Footage of Cancelled Streets of Rage Remake Hits the Internet

SPOnG: "Gameplay footage of a proposed Streets of Rage "re-imagining" has been leaked on the internet. The project was being developed by Ruffian Games and apparently pitched to SEGA as a downloadable title before it was cancelled."

as much as i like the franchise, i think this would have hit the bargain-bin pretty quickly.

"pitched to SEGA as a downloadable title", 500-1000 buys at best. Would've crashed and burned!

SleazyChimp4149d ago

Looked pretty damn cool to me, maybe not finished. They said it was a psn/xbla game, so it would of only been $15 bucks at most. Already a bargain.

otherZinc4149d ago

This would be a DAY 1 Purchase for me!
This looked very good!

soljah4149d ago

just give me the original soundtrack music on it. i would buy for that alone.

needs to be 9.99 or lower on psn

ConstipatedGorilla4149d ago

I would have bought it in a second. That looked amazing. The enemies seemed a bit dumb, but it looked really fun. What a shame it's cancelled.

CarlosX3604149d ago

I also thought that looked good. The combat could've bee a little bit more smoother, but other than that, it looks good.

Thanks to Ruffian Games' Gaz Liddo for setting the gaming world on fire again. SOR gamers came out to voice their opinion.

SOR is still alive and kicking in gamers' hearts. Old and new!

Come on, Sega what are you trying to do?

Sega should learn how to take care of their games like Nintendo does and not suck them up dry like Sonic.

A high quality Mario or Zelda game once every generation of 4 years is better than 4 Sonic games that sucked!
Haven't you learned this all these years, Sega?

I am both glad and sad these prototypes got cancelled because they are not the spiritual successor to SOR.

SOR needs AAA treatment like the first 3 games.
With AAA talent like Yuzo Koshiro & Sega WOW or get the Ryuga Gotoku Yakuza Team to lend a hand.

Sega of America was responsible for axing Yuzo Koshiro's SOR4 Dreamcast pitch!
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

1 SOR, SOR2 &SOR3 are big budget AAA Sega exclusive games
2 They were designed for fast paced arcade gaming action using the Golden Axe Engine & Design by Sega AM7(now Sega WOW)
3 SOR games placed heavy emphasis on cutting edge music production and sound design courtesy of Yuzo Koshiro
4 SOR games have heavy emphasis on visual art design by Ayane Koshiro

Sega WOW & the Koshiro's are still working for Sega.
They must be involved in producing the next SOR with any third party developer to pull this difficult task off.

Even Bandai is rebooting Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 with all the original staff and voice actors.

Axel & Blaze should have made it to Sonic Racing Transformed, Sega! What in the world are you doing?

Sega get your act together!

Sega fans make better games than Sega because the fans put their heart in to it not just their minds.

I hope Sega gets tired of losing money and decided to do a proper AAA SOR Sequel, remake or prequel whatsoever.

What? It looked pretty good to me. For a downloadable title anyway.

Dovahkiin4149d ago

It's streets of rage, that alone deserves my money.

Drewminati4149d ago

big fan big fan, Although they should of left it in 2d,

i would of been part of that 1000 buys

love street of rage

ricochetmg4149d ago

I like the idea also. Game play looks kinda boring.

guitarded774149d ago

It's a brawler through and through. Very repetitive, but great for local co-op with a friend.

MarkusMcNugen4148d ago

Lets not forget it was a pitch, not a finished title. A lot of unfinished games look boring, but could have been something great.

CarlosX3604149d ago

I thought this is what they're trying to go after? It looks 2.5D to me.

I really love these in-game "Stage 1 Start" and "<Go" dialogs. Looked really good, and fits into the SoR feel.

THamm4149d ago

Yes like StreetFighter 4 style graphics, would have been awesome, I can imagine those graphics with a constant up-close flow to the game...

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken18d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake18d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Jingsing18d ago

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol

SEGA’s Switch Predecessor: What Happened to the Nomad?

Sega had such a turbulent existence from the mid-90s to when they dropped out of console manufacturing entirely in 2001, it’s understandable if you’ve never heard of the Genesis Nomad.
