Nintendo has started off the 8th (and potentially, finally) generation of home video game systems with the launch of their Wii U. The Wii U is the successor the very successful Wii system. Unfortunately however, now with the system out and available to the mass public, many opinions and criticisms have begun to formulate about the system. Both good and bad alike
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Danish from eXputer: "Nintendo has historically gone against player-made content and emulation of its games. This has done much to harm the company's image."
They need to stop announcing these mods and fan remakes until they're finished. Finish it, upload it, and then if Nintendo dmca's it tough shit. Once it's online, people can share it around, even if the original download gets taken down.
This is all coming from the mouth of short-sighted fandom and grifting madness.
No.... it wont. There is a clear defined reason why they don't. This is nothing new. Make your own shi7 from your own original ideas especially if you are trying to capitalize of it it. Duh.
Yeah, hire people that have zero respect or understanding for an established process. Wow. Yep. Totally makes sense.
Depends on who is talking.
Certainly wanted, I'm sure thousands of Wii lovers welcome this reiteration with open arms!
The WiiU is not for everyone, but personally I'm loving it, nobody does it like Nintendo, just when you start getting tired of all the same cookie cutter 'aaa' games, they release the WiiU and remind us all why we started playing games in the first place, to have FUN!
On the headline:
There is no such thing as unwarranted criticism. But you can over exaggerate, and there is also illegitamate criticism.
The criticism of the day one update is over exaggerated by some, but it is a legitamate negative that should be noted so it can be fixed or improved upon. As is the often slow operating system. But The complaints of the update being a wopping 5GB is illegitamate, as that is completely false and is therefore not a criticism but a lie.
Where the wiiu is concerned, many criticisms are exaggerated and far to many are untrue altogether(even one falsity is too much in my opinion). That is why there is so much tension on the issue; it is one thing to point out flaws and to be critical, but not okay to slander or outright lie.
I do not know whether it deserves it or not.
However, I have been a gamer since the atari 500
and I have owned most popular consoles including several unpopular ones like 3DO, Atari 7200, Sega Saturn, and the Jaguar.
As a seasoned gamer, I really am not interested in nintendo's new console. I just dont really get it.
I am not saying it is bad, since I have only played several demos at the mall, but I just dont see the appeal at this moment.
Besides, I am haivng so much fun with the 360 and the Playstation 3, that I have no need to switch.
I think I am going to wait until I know more about what MS and Sony are cooking up for next gen before I decide.
Also, I need to save money for Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, Gears of War : Judgement, Far Cry 3 (out today yeah!!!!) Aliens Colonial Marines and Dead Island: Riptide.
That said, as a gamer I hope the WiiU is a sueccess.
