bettor.com: Different companies view change in a different manner, with some of them considering it as an opportunity, while others viewing it as one of the biggest threats to the survival of their business.
The video game ecosystem is no different, with the transition to a new hardware open a wide range of opportunities for some publishers, while sending others six feet under.
But he's still firm that physical games aren't going away.
One high end console has always been a benefit. The other is no longer a necessity.
Only competition there ever was, was when one launched a year to a year and a half early. Based on this generation, the other would have to launch 2 to 4 years early just to compete. Because buying a huge part of the industry, having a multiple game sleep mode, cheaper in price, smaller form factor, supposedly having better BC and a day one subscription service, has still resulted in another huge ass kicking.
Yay for physical Take Two.
I wouldn't really call it competing when a company is dead last in sales when compared to the rival company. I will always stick around for physical copies of games. Moment games go all digital is the day I bring the SNES and Genesis out of hibernation and just stick to retro.
Take-Two announced its financial results for Q3 of the fiscal year on top of an update to sales figures of Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and more.
So 2.47% of the global population have a copy of gta v no wonder they don't want to release vi there's still so many people who haven't brought v
Obvious sarcasm here
To think that 5mil sold is considered a huge success for any game in general, and 10 is amazing. I cannot believe people are still buying this.
I keep saying that’s why the 7th generation was the most loved because of gta5 and Skyrim.
Well hopefully millions went to gta 6 singleplayer mode to make it extra epic but knowing rockstar nowadays there won't be a full support for singleplayer, mainly online will be the focus i bet but I hope atleast theres plenty to do in the open world and not just look good with little to nothing to do, after gta 6 ain no tellin when we will get another rockstar title even tho the mfs sucked in millions from red dead 2 as well I miss when we got more than 1 game a gen from them they always delivered, so many key staff members left not even just the well known names
Forbes writes: "While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two."
Lmao how greedy can they get, sit on piles of cash and still want more. Then they have the cheek to release half assed remasters.
Due to this statement I am going to wait and buy GTA 6 when it is at 20 bucks. Its not like there are not more than enough other good games to play.
I dont agree with him as far as sentiment but I do buy my games like that. I'll pay full price for rpgs but not a shorter game unless it's an uncharted or last of us type game(not just those literally) I'm more inclined to pay full price for a dragon quest games instead of a Alan wake or something to that extent.
I'd love to see Acti crash after a freak downfall in stocks.
This is to be expected considering how much more money it is going to cost to develop quality games for the ps4/720. I am certainly looking forward to the new leap in technology like everyone else, but the tragedy is going to be when some of the smaller to middle size companies make a gamble to invest heavily in a game that they believe in, only to find out that there game just doesn't sell well. This is going to be particularly brutal and harsh for companies that release great games only to have them poorly received.
I am really worried about companies like Platinum Games that don't have a solid foundation to survive any major losses. Major losses that are bound to occur because they don't have the marketing dollars that a company like Activision has behind them. That's one of the reasons I am not upset over Bayonetta 2 get publishing by Nintendo, because it does ensure that the company makes money. I just hope that there are enough new methods in the future to ensure that independent companies find a way to be successful and survive the transition.
Its not going to cost that much more. These systems are more like pc's, in which the games are made on. The transition between the 360 and the next xbox should not be all that different for current devs. Now the transition between ps3 and the next playstation will mainly affect 1st party devs as they will have to change the way they have been programming for the last 6 years.
This includes Activision. Its not like they try to push anything anyway with Call of Duty. They don't even push it on the pc and we get new GPU's and cpu's all the time.
I think the studios that were going to go under have done so already, next gen won't be drastically different from this gen. If anything he extra processing power will help the lesser companies and with engines like unreal 4, frostbite 2 etc there are plenty of ready made next gen engines to use.
More than this?
