Five things the Wii U does really well

Russell Holly:

The launch of Nintendo’s latest console hasn’t exactly gone off without a hitch. If you managed to pick one up at launch, chances are your out-of-the-box experience wasn’t as smooth as it probably should have been. Nintendo’s latest console still feels very much like an unfinished project, but there are more positives than negatives in this situation.

While we wait for Nintendo to get themselves together and then to release TVii and the other missing bits of the Wii U, lets talk about what the console does well.

The Wii U really does everything. It is a great entertainment Hub...Ease of use and the Internet integration is seamless. Game/internet use/gameplay/TV/to gameplay TV to gamepad. Nintendo did allot right.

I agree, unlike a certain other console, that shall go unnamed, which claims to do everything, but actually does it rather poorly.

Just wait until the PS4 comes out...

I agree it is a fun/new/interesting way to play games, how can anyone call themselves a gamer and outright "dismiss" any piece of hardware? Silly. I love playing it. I use Netflix, and it works so much smoother and faster than my sony blu-ray for netflix.

Judging by what I have read on this site, piss off all the Ps3 and MS fanboys..

SOULJER4163d ago

It's because the WIIU has a low CPU speed, and fan boys from both camps are doging it. nintendo fans are not having it. There FIGHTING back.

nukeitall4163d ago

I think Nintendo fans don't even read this site and just play games on the Wii U!

They ignore all this epen comparison and enjoy their new tablet controller.

Its not a tablet. Its a gamepad with a touchscreen.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga3d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas3d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
