Assassin’s Creed III On PC Demonstrates TXAA and DX 11 Tessellation

So why do so many PC gamers brag about their DX11 beast machines? It’s because of technology like Tessellation and TXAA. TXAA gets rid of the shimmering effect on aliased objects. Tessellation smooths out polygons by breaking them up into smaller polygons. An example of this with pen and paper would be to try and draw a circle using 8 straight lines and then redraw it again with 64 straight lines. The circle with 64 straight lines looks smoother and more like a circle and less like an octagon. This same principle works with Tessellation except with computer generated polygons.

Will tessellation work on the PS4 or is it for 720 only ? Can't OpenGL make up for it?

Pandamobile4157d ago

As long as the GPU supports it.

ninjahunter4157d ago

For educational purposes, theres also software tessellation that is processed by the CPU, However the demand is so outlandish its not even considered. In fact most DX11 effects can be emulated by the CPU, but like i said, unless your sporting $3000 worth of CPU its useless.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4157d ago (Edited 4157d ago )

most likely.
Yes openGl can do tess it's not a dx11 specific feature.

Great, I think tessellation is an underestimated feature that improves graphics beyond the usual power focus.

ATi_Elite4157d ago

Tessellation is a DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4 feature

I'm 100% Positive Next Gen consoles will run DX11 and OpenGL 4 GPU's!

Next Box will happily use Microsoft's DX11
PS4 will use the OpenGL 4 code

DirectX and OpenGL are pretty much the same but DirectX belongs to Microsoft and only runs on Windows based machines and OpenGL made by SGI is made to run any system

why didnt the wii u version do this?

kevnb4157d ago

It did? If so that's pretty good for a console that just launched.

porkChop4157d ago

Because it doesn't have nearly enough power to have graphical features like this. The Wii U is a bit slower than the current consoles, so chances are if they can't do something neither can the Wii U.

taquito4156d ago (Edited 4156d ago )

the wii u, ps3 and 360 all combined could not run ac3 the way a modern pc can

2650x1600 at 60 frames with dx11, txaa, 8x msaa, ssao, real time hdr, soft shadowing

literally, the combined "power" of ps3/360 and wii u would not even run that at 10 frames per second

wii u, ps3, 360....all last gen

Bethesda makes the most consistently stupid NPCs, like really bad... yet I still can't help but love playing their games. Guilty pleasure, I guess. *sigh* 😩

How did redfall not make the cut.

My first thought was the safe rooms in the resident evil series. When you hear that enchanting music you know you’re safe.

Killer2020UK263d ago

I literally just came here to post this. That music in the Resi 1 safe rooms is playing in my head.

Rimeskeem262d ago

I was thinking TLOU work benches. Although I remember one time where it was a false security.

Perfect. 👌👌

I'd add the top of my highrise apartment in GTA Online. That calm, quiet peace, just knowing as soon as I step out that door I will be bombarded by 8 and 12 year olds calling each other n**** and f****, trolled by combat jets and rocket launchers.

The entire map of SotC is peaceful as hell. Used to just ride around exploring it.

mastershredder262d ago (Edited 262d ago )

Afterlife in Cyberpunk 2077 is a peaceful area? Erm, hands down and very hard to miss, Misty Olszewski's Esoterica is the absolute epitome of peaceful areas in that game.

raiden_188262d ago

The "last of us" deer location i found to be a welcoming respite. It was nice to not have someone trying to eat me.

RPGer262d ago

Kingdom Hearts tend to present half peaceful areas and most of them are amazing.

'Assassin’s Creed III': Ten Years Later

With the recent reveal of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the promise that the series will return to its roots, there hasn’t been a better time to get stuck into Assassin’s Creed’s back catalog, whether it’s replaying an old favorite or getting lost in previously looked-over classic.

Ten years later, we miss the old you, Assassin's Creed.

I really enjoyed Assassins Creed 3. My only complaint was that I didn’t enjoy when I had to switch from Connor to Desmond. It’s a personal preference, but Connor’s story was just more fun for me.

On a side note, Black flag was the most enjoyable of the AC games I played.
