10 Spectacularly Wrong Video Game Reviews

WC writes: We all know that there are tons of great games out there. And simultaneously, there are a lot of games that are, for lack of a better term, complete crap. And of course, us gamers share our existence with people we call critics that get paid to review those games.

A lot of the time, these critics are pretty accurate in their reviews. But there are always exceptions. Here are just a few examples of those exceptions.

IGN completely make wrong reviews they give all good games a bad scores

MariaHelFutura4158d ago

I would more say they give average big budget games great scores. It`s the nature of the beast.

lastofgen4158d ago

Um...not really.
There's no such thing as "wrong review."

An opinion is an opinion. But you have the choice to ignore it.

MysticStrummer4158d ago

So reviews of multiplayer only games that are based on beta code and underpopulated beta servers are cool with you? How about reviews that contain incorrect information because the reviewer either rushed through the game so they would have one of the first reviews, or didn't play into the game enough to have the complete info? Both of these things have happened more than once this gen. Wrong reviews do exist.

morganfell4158d ago

This article is the epitome of absurdity. Were none of these games bad? Ask any OGR player what they thought of Future Soldier.

My favorite moment in his ramblings is when he attacks the review of Battlefield Bad Company 2. I agree the Rob Taylor missed the mark. But the irony is he infers Taylor is a COD fanboy. Yet the writer himself clealry fits the same definition when reviewing Battlefield 3. He considers the campaign in BF3 to be a ripoff of Black Ops. Really? Don't be greedy, pass that fat blunt around. He tries to include himself in the erred review category yet while pointing out the faults of others in their writings he fails to acknowledge specifics in the shortcomings of his own worthless pieces.

DarthJay4158d ago

This article is brutal. It should be called "let me find nine reviews I disagree with and present my vastly superior opinion all while making the #1 most spectacularly wrong video game review one that I wrote so I look humble and important."

Reviews are opinions. There is no way to prove an opinion wrong. You can agree or disagree, but even a lot of people disagreeing doesn't make it wrong. Even if I agree with some of the points you made, I would never disagree that the writer has a right to feel the way they do.

But hey, you put yourself over. #1!!! Good job. Clearly you never believed anything you said to begin with if you can turn around and say you were spectacularly wrong about 10 opinions you had on 10 games.

Wow, well said. You pretty much nailed it.

knifefight4158d ago

Yeah, this is whatculture.com we're talking about. That whole site is pure trash. N4G keeps submitting and approving its articles though, so we still get this kind of crap popping up. -_-

liquidhalos4158d ago

Very well said DarthJay, i couldnt agree more. It was pure narcissistic bullcrud

Just seeing that picture makes me want to play Uncharted 2 again. Time to fire it up when I get home.

Dfooster4158d ago

I was going along with this article until the author of this very article, a piece about journalists getting reviews wrong states that ubisoft sometimes get things so right like ghost recon but occasionally get things so wrong like assassins creed brotherhood??? What, brotherhood is by far the best assassins creed of the series by a mile.

arbitor3654158d ago

this guy is bashing edge magazine for bashing black ops? that is probably the one thing I have ever agreed with edge magazine about. you arent going to call them out for their 7/10 they gave killzone 2? that was when most people with half a brain realized how cringingly biased they are.

you're going to complain that gamespot gave resident evil 6 a bad score? that game completely deserved it on every level and many many other reviewers agreed.

yeah, this article sucks

Goodbye New Mario, I Won't Miss You

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first Mario 2D game in almost two decades without the New Super Mario art style, and it looks all the better for it

Am I missing something? It looks exactly the same, just higher resolution… Is this sarcasm?

specialguest298d ago

Yes, you're not observant if you think it looks exactly the same. It immediately appeared different to me from the start. Mario's 3D model will always be the same, so not much difference there. However, the animation they've given the Super Mario Wonder makes it look more like a CGI Mario animation where as the New Mario Bros game looks more like typical video game animation movements

__SteakDeck__297d ago

@specialguest Yeah those animations are insane.

FinalFantasyFanatic298d ago

You really didn't notice the difference? It's really obvious, I was surprised when I first saw the trailer.

Asplundh297d ago

"Am I missing something?"

Your glasses maybe?

Juancho51298d ago

This Mario game looks great, getting a switch for this and Mario RPG. CANT WAIT, TITS JACKED.

Profchaos297d ago

Yeah I liked how much more emotion could be conveyed through the new style at first glance I didn't see much difference but then rewatching the trailer I'm seeing more and more animations that remind me of the Mario artwork from the manual of smb3

Outlawzz297d ago

I hated the new super Mario bros Style. This new one seems a lot more expressive and less generic. I hope it's a good game

shinoff2183297d ago

I prefer the 2d Mario's. Me and my girl have played them all together and mario galaxy , Mario odyssey. The 2nd player option is extremely eh
