Why Batman: Arkham City is one of the greatest games ever made

Gamesradar- The word “blockbuster” is bandied about a lot in relation to games. So is the word “epic”. In most cases neither is really applicable. Batman: Arkham City however, is the real thing; a dark, affecting, massive event of a game that remains vital long after completion.

Agree wholeheartedly. Batman: AC sets the bar for how an iconic independent property should be handled in a videogame. After Batman, I hope Rocksteady does something similar for X-Men.

Agreed. I didn't even finish Arkham City, it didn't hold my attention like Arkham Asylum did. I much preferred the Asylum as a setting for the game.

I preferred AA as well, but I don't think either is anywhere close to one of the greatest games ever made. AA held my attention. AC didn't. I had a friend's copy of AC for months and didn't play it much. Just couldn't get into it.

I agree that setting and story was better than AC, but the gameplay was much more runner than AA, especially the gliding.

Batman AC is just too good. Definitely one the greatest games ever made and deserves all the praise it gets. Can't wait to see what Rocksteady does next.

I loved Arkham City but I much preferred Arkham Asylum just because of the setting, story and villains.

The game is good but it isn't some sort of holy grail of gaming.

In my opinion both games had a weak story. AA was better story-wise until the end.

That felt like some sort of easy way out, and AC just made me think, "Is that it??" story-wise. They could have done better.

As for combat, apparently everyone is ok with the fact that batman apparently has rocket boots. In one flying kick he can reach the other side of a room with ease.

He's batman, not Chuck Norris.

Good games, especially in terms of superhero games...but definitely not as great as some are making them out to be.

All the inherent craziness that goes along with a game based on a comic book superhero, and you have a problem with the fact that he can jump kick somebody from too far away?

AC's story is FAR from the Alpha/Omega. The greatness comes from how every element of the game comes together to create something better than the sum of its parts.

I disagree. I actually thought it was a bit boring. which is odd considering I loved the first one. The boss battles were really good though. Especially Ras.

I beat batman ac in 1 day you must be wack then. ac is way 2 easy for me I beat it in hard and game plus without no problem got my platinum so im good. I feel like batman aa was more of a challenge then ac

i don't think aa was better, i think it just felt fresh and surprisingly good for a game based on a "superhero" comic book.
with ac it was more or less the same, just improved(which is still great achievement). i love batman ac and i think it's one of best games this gen, up there with rdr, ac series(yes, i am a huge fan of the series), gta4, portal2, kz2,gow3 and more(i don't mention x360 or wii games because i don't own neither)

Still playing the Joker's funhouse challenge map to this day. I once pulled off a score of over 8 million and thought I hit the number one spot, only to find out there was 8 people ahead of me...with the first two on the list being obvious cheaters with scores of over 50 million.

If I had to rate it, it ranks in my top 10 all-time. It is by far the best superhero game ever made and the traversal mechanic displace Spider-man 2's web swinging as my favorite thing to do in an open world.

As for those that think AA is better, I do think the combat is better, but the overall gameplay, particularly the boss fights, are much better in AC.

With that said, the ending for AC was complete crap, and no because Joker died. Batman or Gordan should have killed him years ago. It's the fact that he let Talia die in a hot fire, but carried out a homicidal maniac instead.
