Mainly cause of Dota 2. :D

And the discounts/sales.

A great service , hope W8 dosn't screw them, is it viable for them to make a dedicated Steam OS that loads on startup?

Finalfantasykid4168d ago

It probably would not be hard since they now have steam running on Linux. They are probably planning to just have a linux distro dedicated to just running steam, which could eventually be used for the rumoured (I think?) Steam Console.

Apocwhen4168d ago

The problem is 9 out of 10 games on PC use DirectX to run. DirectX is a Microsoft Library so you need Windows to use it.

There is some DirectX emulation under Linux but it's never been all that great.

There isn't anything I dislike more than that three letter word used online. Grow up.

Feralkitsune4168d ago

It won't happen. the language is dying more and more everyday. Blame lazy parents and getting brain deficient kids cellphones.

HenryFord4167d ago

Language is not something you make up and everyone has to go the route which has been laid down before them. Language is evolving with the people speaking it - you probably should grow up and finally realize that you are not the center of the world.

@HenryFord, tell that to their teachers when they are getting marked down for not knowing how to form a coherent sentence. Sorry, I meant #Y0L0Sw@G4Lyf3

Steam is growing by leaps and bounds. I think it was less than a year ago when they hit 5 million concurrent users online at one time.

Zha1tan4168d ago (Edited 4168d ago )

A mere year ago it was 4 million users now 6 million?!

Oh sorry I was sitting here thinking PC gaming was dying because of all these "brilliantly written" articles on N4G..

MAJ0R4168d ago

That "PC gaming is dying" was just hyperbole to get hits. Anyone who thinks a superior gaming platform which is constantly having amazing deals on games and is cheaper in the long run is dying doesn't know what they're talking about.

Somebody4168d ago

I was finally getting my games in order after the Steam Summer Sale. Finishing off the the games one by one...then, Steam's Autumn Sale appeared. Just when I thought the backlog was going to disappear, Steam dumped more discounts and bundles on me.
