1. stick to the original story or else >_<

guitarded774160d ago

It would be very stupid to stray from the God of War story we all know. The people who will be most likely to see the movie are already going to know the story of Kratos. No need to bring in artistic interpretation, it will just make people mad. Nice to see Zuperman with 23 agrees and 0 disagrees... finally something everyone on n4g can agree on.

Christopher4160d ago

@guitarded: I know, I just find it funny that most people don't know the "original" story. Most people think GoW is the original story. Just file my response above under an attempt to get someone to recognize his role in mythology versus just his role in the games (which, honestly, are all over the place).

I do hope the movies doesn't come off too much like the games did in the end where he is more the petulant child with big daddy issues and wanting to destroy everything out of anger.

guitarded774160d ago

I want all the gratuitous gore and nudity the game offers. Kinda wish they'd let HBO make it a series, they know how to make great series with blood and boobs. Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with your comment, I was just stating my thoughts on the matter :D

calis4159d ago

"I know, I just find it funny that most people don't know the "original" story."

Just because you read a webpage doesn't make you a subject matter expert. They're not going to follow that mythology seeing as it completely changes his role from the games.

Christopher4159d ago

***Just because you read a webpage doesn't make you a subject matter expert.***

What does that have to do with anything? I don't need to be a subject matter expert (meaning: have a degree in Fine Arts specific to the studies of mythology) to know his original story. Kind of like how I don't need to have a PhD in Mathematics to know that 2+2=4.

***They're not going to follow that mythology seeing as it completely changes his role from the games.***

I think you missed my point. You should probably read the OP post which I was responding.

calis4159d ago

Yeah I very much doubt he was referring to that original story.

Or else we'll try out some of Kratos's moves.

....uh, and not the ones he does off-screen.

RememberThe3574160d ago

I don't know if I'm that worried. Sounds like Sony told them to make the best movie script they could and if that means changing something then so be it. I'd rather they make a good God of War movie and change some things then make a shitty movie and stick completely to what has already been told.

I'd much rather them make a good movie that stays true to the original story line, but I'll take the quality if its all I can get.

My only hope is that they stay true to what God of War is about; pure unleashed vengeance and keep the depth of pain Kratos shows. They could so easily make it some shallow "I hate you so I will kill you" take that would be completely boring. Kratos isn't just a badass, he's a badass for a good reason.

BitbyDeath4160d ago (Edited 4160d ago )

Exactly.

Here's the actual quote -

"they were encouraging us to make it different from those movies"

Title should be changed as it is entirely misleading.

ATi_Elite4159d ago

if you completely go away from the Video Game story and make some CRAP like the FarCry movie!

Just stick to the script.....and add great special effects!

Ghee Whiz it's all laid out for you already.....just play the game and copy everything into the movie!

xtremeimport4159d ago

how to piss off a massive chunk of your potential viewers of the film.

announce you're thinking about changing the storyline.

Oh_Yeah4159d ago (Edited 4159d ago )

Whatever they do, they need to get Gerard Butler to play Kratos and don't make it CGI! Hate cgi movies unless it's some pixar type stuff, those are my requests.

Alos884160d ago

Don't expect it to be good, either.

CommonSense4160d ago (Edited 4160d ago )

It'll just be another incredibly crappy, low-budget-looking film directed by a guy who knows nothing about games or their lore.

eg, prince of persia, doom, resident evil, hitman, mortal kombat, everything by Uwe Boll, etc..

rustyspoon804160d ago (Edited 4160d ago )

Mortal Kombat stuck to the lore of the games. The first was pretty decent.

Also, this story doesn't say they're changing anything. Its just says they're making it different from other similar movies. (Clash of the Titans films and Immortals).

Rip-Ridah4160d ago (Edited 4160d ago )

Thank u rustyspoon. I logged in JUST to bring this to my fellow GOW fans. I'm not sure WHY the submitter used that sensational headline for the title, but the article only speaks of deviating from the Clash of the Titans & Immortals. There is no proof nor suggestion (at least in this article) that the writer/director is going to butcher/not remain faithful to the God of War game to movie adaption. They very well may screw it up, but I hope they don't. I just want the Kratos actor to lip-sync T.C. Carson's voice. Imo, Kratos' voice is as distinguishable as Solid Snake's, Nathan Drake's, & Sam Fisher's. Also, use Linda Hunter as the narrator of the movie. Not likely to happen, but one can hope. "The directors of Hollywood have abandoned me. Now there is no hope."

kneon4160d ago

@Rip-Ridah

I agree the article is stretching things a bit. I can't see them deviating too far off the main story line. The GOW story is actually very good and his unbounded hatred of the gods is perfectly explained by the early events of the first game. I can't see them coming up with a better motivation for his hatred and if they tone down the rage then it just wouldn't be Kratos.

As for Linda Hunt narrating, why not? She has done a lot of narration work in various movies and documentaries.

Rip-Ridah4160d ago (Edited 4160d ago )

@ kneon

You are absolutely right about Linda Hunt being MORE than capable/logical to do the narration because of her former experience in film. When I said 'Not likely to happen' I was mainly referring to the Kratos actor lip-syncing T.C. Carson. My editing messed my point up. My bad. I love hearing her voice, btw. Maybe I have a gilf-like crush on her. Lol...that was a joke...

kind of. ;-)

majiebeast4159d ago

Rusty dont forget it brought us the awesome mortal kombat track that basicly every gamer knows.

like all game to movie movies, it'll be God of War in name only. The rest will be poorly scribed drawl.

Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
