Actually reading the article helps you understand that the writer was sent to get help. Also, he did acknowledge that Persona 3 was dark. I won't spoil the rest.

Try reading it.... it's really good

Donnieboi4160d ago (Edited 4160d ago )

So what if its dark. Games that acknowledge the hardships and pains of human suffering do the most to help people who suffer. Shrouding your sadness behind a mask of fake happiness is EXACTLY what Persona confronts as a series. Personally, I hope the series returns to its roots. I dunno how this series went from a deep, thought provoking study of jungean psychology, to having eventually ending up turning into a scooby-doo feeling game (p4).

Anyway, p4 is still great, but i love P3's psychological depth whether i liked the characters or not, as opposed to having happy-go-lucky characters forced down my throat.

*note: lets all keep this discussion spoiler free for those who never played either persona games

Whitefox7894159d ago

I do think the intro sequence to P4: Golden is hilarious.

Its so upbeat and colorful like a title sequence to a Pixar movie (thinking of Monsters Inc.)

My mind is just screaming throughout the intro, "This is a game about MURDER!"

As for the direction of the series I can't say, I don't know if their going to play off of the ending of P4 Arena for P5 (They've finally started focusing on it) or not.

Most people are hoping for a college theme based game that explores a little more mature themes akin to the themes in Catherine.

Though I don't know how well that would work cause speaking from personal experience there's not much to "find" about yourself (one of the central themes throughout all of the Persona Games) while your in college. You usually have a good idea of who you are and what you want to do.

Sooooo we'll have to see....

3-4-54159d ago

Uhhh...don't you have to shoot yourself in the head in order to do your "move" in the game ?

That is F***** up.

Donnieboi4158d ago

Ok, so go play some mario, u sensitive mofo

Whitefox7894157d ago

That was only in Persona 3!

BlaqMagiq244160d ago

This is actually a really good article. Trust me you should definitely read this before commenting. Great to see a series like Persona helping someone out of a depression. It's one I would never expect to help someone especially Persona 3 with its dark atmosphere.

Hope the author gets more stable from now on. I can somewhat relate. :(

Goodluck!

Persona 3 Still Doesn’t Have The Modern Release It Deserves

TheGamer's Meg Pelliccio says: "Atlus has just launched ports of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden to modern consoles, allowing old fans a chance to take a trip down memory lane while newbies can experience them for the very first time. Persona 5 and Royal saw the fanbase boom, so it’s no surprise that lots of fans have yet to check out these earlier titles. As much as I enjoy and would recommend both, I can’t help feeling that this launch missed the opportunity to settle an old score once and for all."

Neither does Tales of the Abyss

At least P3 is playable on modern platforms whereas TotA was only rereleased on 3DS

Terry_B451d ago

Yeah.. playing Persona 3 via PS2 Emulator is sadly still the best choice :(

Grilla451d ago

Started it this weekend, for a min I thought there was no 3d exploration until I got into the dungeon. Just a weird choice with the static pic.

The Nintendo Switch Doesn't Need Persona

The Switch would definitely benefit from Persona games, but at the end of the day, it doesn't need them for fans to scratch the itch.

Nobody asked but nice of you to write an article trying to convince yourself of that.

At the end of the day Atlus/Sega can put Persona on whatever platform they want. Their business and their choice.

Neonridr937d ago (Edited 937d ago )

I mean techincally there are Persona games on Switch. Just not the core series. That being said, sales would definitely benefit from the Japanese market Switch owners if they ever decided to put them on there.

Muigi937d ago

They’re right it needs another Earthbound.

I'm betting on nothing.
It's Atlus after all.

VenomUK960d ago (Edited 960d ago )

Surely a Persona 4 Golden is on the cards? I played about 5 hours worth years ago on the Vita. Would love to play it on a present-day console.

gold_drake960d ago

so you played the beginning? haha.
its on pc if thats any comfort.

VenomUK960d ago

@curtain_swoosh. Yeah, I wouldn't mind the PC version but I have a crappy old Mac (better not say that too loud as I don't want it to hear me) so it can't run Parallels PC software. I'm sure a home version will come, someday.

Vits960d ago

I mean it's Atlus.
One would think that Persona 4 Golden would have gotten a console version together with the PC one. And if not for all consoles at least a Switch release.

So, yeah. I'm betting on nothing.

Scissorman82960d ago

As excited as I am to see more Persona, I really want to know the status of Project Re Fantasy. It's been nearly five years since that game was announced and we know absolutely nothing about it outside of a teaser trailer.

VersusDMC960d ago

As it's a persona specific event i doubt it will show up. But maybe. Probably a Sony event ingame reveal seems more likely.

VersusDMC960d ago

Persona 3 remake, Persona 6, Persona Arena ports or/and sequel are my wants.

FinalFantasyFanatic960d ago

Persona 6 and Persona 3 FES port to PC, I don't know what else to expect, I'd buy a port of P3 Fes to go with P4G.

FinalFantasyFanatic959d ago

WTF is with these downvotes? Did someone let the bots out again?

SaiyanFury959d ago

I'm hoping for P3 FES remaster maybe and with luck P5R on PC as well.
