Ghod, speed trials and wave modes using that excruciating combat and movement system sounds like torture, I couldn't bring myself to finish Dishonoured, from about the second mission I was just running through as quickly as possible to get it over with and after realisng there was still more after the re taking of Dunwall tower I gave up completely.
This is a game where it's up to the player to make their own life difficult in order to make the game last longer, after you max out blink and slow time the game is a cakewalk and it's not even hard to begin with anyway.

Dishonored was an incredible game. You sound like an unimaginative player who prefers to play on rails and look at big explosions. Stick with CoD.

Agreed, I'm much more at home with linear games or tightly focused open world games like Dragon's Dogma or Far Cry but Dishonored is not "incredible" it's basically a rip off of China Mieville's New Crobuzon mythos only far less exciting and confronting...plus it's too easy, blink and slow time are "I win" powers, there's no reason to use swarm, or possession and the bone charms are completely irrelevant. With Blink and slow time you could easily beat the game on the hardest settings without equipping any charms or upgrading any of your gear but the worst mistake of all was not including a new game plus mode. This isn't Hitman it's just not that good of a game that most people are going to re play it over and over to experiment with the powers and alternative routes.

Both movement and combat were great in this game, you're talking shit.

How were they great? If you try to pick up an item while crouching you slip under the table, the lean mechanic is fiddly, because of the graphical style depth perception is limited so it's hard to judge parrying, the shadow mechanic works some of the time, though again, due to the graphical style it's hard to tell when you're in shadow or not, even the blink action to climb a ledge is a pain in the neck, it's really fiddly a lot of the time to get the cursor to change to the arrows and are you saying you didn't use slow time in combat all the time like I did?

I'll tell you what I did like in the game were the alternative possibilities for ending missions non violently, like the hit on the Twins and the three sisters, that was cool, plus the lore about the Whales is actually pretty well done and the game has some neat characters like Granny, the Outsider and Slackjaw, I'm looking forward to a sequel but "incredible" this game is not.

The Magic of 'Dishonored’s' Blink

It’s a shame, really, that so few games have “borrowed” Dishonored’s Blink – in the right hands, such a power could be game-changing.

It felt kinda cheap to me… both in terms as a tactic, and game design

Abnor_Mal431d ago (Edited 431d ago )

There was a small game called Aragami that “borrowed” the blink, that was a good game.

Unfortunately I heard the sequel wasn’t good so I stayed away from trying it out.

The sequel changed some of the mechanics from the first game but it was still a very polished and enjoyable experience. You should definitely give it a shot sometime. The game's currently on sale on Steam

Okay thanks for the heads up, will look out for it being on sale one day.

I really did like the first and played it back to back as soon as I finished the first play through.
