Booth Babes Are People Too: In Defence Of People Doing Their Job

Gamer Euphoria staff member Sean writes:

''There seems to be a strange trend on the rise, especially when conventions and expos are in town, and this trend is slightly worrying given the nature of peoples mind sets. The term ‘Booth babe’ has been thrown around the pillars of the video game community for quite some time now and it can be seen as a little juvenile, but that isn’t the issue I’m talking about at this current moment.''

I feel sorry for those girls.
They have to stand around and be gawked at for hours.
They probably don't even get to use the toilet if they need to.
Booth Babes are great to look at and i'd say a lot of them enjoy what they do, but sometimes you see one or two who have that "i wanna go home" face on.
Those poor, sexy things.

They chose to take on the job though. It really shouldn't be a job option at all, it's just a cheap way to draw people to your booth.

Zha1tan4161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

I to feel sorry for women who get paid to stand around in skimpy outfits and get all the male attention they want while enjoying great perks.

Meanwhile....

Not sure why you've went completely off topic. I also have no idea why you feel the need to post that.

Zha1tan4161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

Oh I dont know, perhaps my frustrations are misplaced by the misplaced frustrations of people, you know like how we should feel sorry for those who make money from selling themselves willinging to be used as eye candy?

But it appears I have touched down in mangina central....

wait...where does it state you should 'feel sorry for them'? please point out where it states that.

guitarded774161d ago

LOL "Those poor, sexy things." That's the funniest line I've read all week. You win something... I don't know what yet, but something. The story image is great too. And yes, booth babes are people too... so is the kid working behind the counter at the store, but people still treat him/her like s#!t... at least booth babes are still hot when they clock out.

360ICE4161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

I never quite got the point (well, I do. They help sell games). Shouldn't video game conferences be ALL about games? Like film festivals are all about movies and not about what people are wearing...

Nevermind

Captain Qwark 94161d ago

or you could have it about games with a side of some sexy ladies. ill take both

NYC_Gamer4161d ago

The events are turning into mainstream peep shows now days.I doubt millions of gamers bought Halo 4 and others because seen some booth babe @E3.

bubblebeam4161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

Agreed. It;s the same at the V8's (Australia here.....) and the Formula One Grand Prix. I felt sorry for some of them, as there were always the juvenile little kids (you know, the type of little boys who think they have a 'chance'), and then there were the old, smelly drunk guys who went to far.

I am a male, but I think that job all together, whether for a male or female, is degrading and should be illegal. And why do people expect them to know about games (as the article pointed out), as no-one goes up to them and can move their gaze to meet their face and ask them a serious question anyway.

I'm more annoyed that they use good looking guy/girls to do interviews, when they clearly know nothing about games.

Cortana's jiggly boobs says hello.

A Freudian lozenge for all the frustrated man children who wish they were Master Chief, a fictional overman who never has to struggle with rejection and inadequacy.

Beta males play video games. Beta males prefer objectified women over real women, because objects don't ask you when your next promotion is coming up.

Only alpha-male-wannabes use the phrase "Beta males". :)

We Need Our Booth Babes Back

Gaming conventions are missing some of their brightest stars, the booth babes! Should companies bring these representatives back?

Yes we do but the feminists will come crawling out of the woodworks lol!

spreadlove2386d ago

Sop you want boot babes to distract people from the games?

Porn is easily available on the internet.

rainslacker2386d ago (Edited 2386d ago )

Unless one actually goes to the conferences, I don't see how booth babes really help to get the word out about the game. The reporters who get to oogle them are about the only benefactors outside the few reports we get about when they are around, and if that's all someone wants, I'm sure the internet has plenty to offer without waiting for a convention. The reporters shouldn't be worried about the booth babes, rather actually caring about what content is shown by those at the conventions and conveying that information to the consumers. If booth babes are an influence to somehow give preferential treatment to one game or another, it calls into question the quality or sincerity of the actual report.

I'm about as far from the raving SJW as one could get, but I really don't see the reason for them except as a marketing tool to improperly influence people through subconscious appeal based on people's needs to impress pretty girls.

drizzom2387d ago (Edited 2387d ago )

We do need them back. They were great at TGS. Sjws/feminist zealots have made the industry become really lame since they arrived.

AnubisG2387d ago

They do that with everything. Too much power is given to them.

spreadlove2386d ago

The solution to your problem is to have scantily clad men and women on. It's equality, but do you want the focus to be on their butt cheeks instead of the game?

Porn is easily available on the interwebz.

I Promise: After Booth Babes Wore My Final Fantasy XV Mask, It Did Not Haunt Anything

"A bunch of game babes wore a Final Fantasy XV mask, but then the mask went absolutely insane, which I guess is truly in the Halloween spirit."
