Rapper Steals Kingdom Hearts Theme And Remixes It

Kingdom Heart’s Sanctuary just got a lot more bass and drums. If you keep up with the rap music scene you may or may not have heard artist French Montana’s new mixtape “Mac & Cheese” which features a sample I’m sure 99% of you have heard before.

Lol, someone's gonna get sued...

Abash4164d ago

Im actually offended that he stole the theme haha, which even to me is a bit of an overreaction on my behalf but I love the series so much that all things Kingdom Hearts related are sacred to me

rdgneoz34164d ago

I hope he didn't get permission to use it first, so that horrible piece of crap disappears. Love the Japanese version of the theme song. So glad Utada Hikari is able to sing in both Japanese and English so that the theme song for the first 2 KH stayed the same and didn't have a FFXIII happen.

IKizzLE4164d ago

Yea he ruined it and he can't get sued for it.
It's a mixtape, not an album. He not selling it and it's free to everyone.

I guess since it's a "Rapper" the editor felt encouraged to used the phrase "Rapper Steals Kingdom Hearts Theme". Anything for web hits i guess!

Artist of all Genres tend to "SAMPLE" music, vocals, and instrumentals from other artist! This has been done since the dawn of time and as long a French Montana properly CREDITS Hikaru Utada the actual performer then all is well!

Whiz Khalifa is NOT a Gangster Rapper....he's more of an alternative Hip Hop artist. LOL Whiz is so NOT gangster! Yo editor learn the difference!

Also Hikaru Utada may wanna thank French Montana cause i listened to French's Song and Sanctuary and thought Utada has a nice style and just bought a few of her album$ from her website!

French Montana on the other hand...nice sample of Utada but your lyrics suck and you gets no money from me!

Snookies124164d ago (Edited 4164d ago )

That's not a "sample" dude... That's just ripped straight from the actual soundtrack. I could see if it had the same note structure or something, or was inspired by it, but to use the actual song is "stealing".

Though I agree he should at least credit Hikaru for the song, then all should be good. I didn't realize it was a free thing, thought he was trying to sell this lol.

If its on a mixtape nothing is going to happen to him. If you dont listen to rap most mixtapes sample a lot of stuff. You can basically get it free. Thats like telling people on youtube who plays this song on piano will get sued.

He did a damn bad job sampling it though. Wish it was another rapper.

MrMister4164d ago

Nope can't get sued since it's a free song. No money made, just a poorly made rendition of a game song that he butcher

AngelicIceDiamond4164d ago

I don't think I would have been mad if French Montana's remix was good and flowed with kingdom's Hearts Sanctuary. He made a really amazing song... bad. I like rap, but this was like a disgrace to the Kingdom Heart's name. I think if he would have done a better job if he had played the game growing up. And if he did, then he knows he did the Song... No justice.

I'm off to look for a PS2 and Kingdom Hearts.

BlackWolf4164d ago

This is too much... Damn, why good things should get in hands of people that are 99.99% sure to make it fail? (just gave a 00.01% for a margin of success, if that's even possible)

Hufandpuf4164d ago

French ruined this. The beat was awesome, but his lyrics are so stupid. I'd rather just listen to the instrumental.

This is the same as wiz no talent khalifa stealing 2 chrono trigger tracks. Gtfo!!!!!

Dream Drop Distance Derailed Kingdom Hearts in Style

While very flawed, DDD highlights why the series works as well as it does. Between a willingness to innovate and consistently strong character writing, Kingdom Hearts is never boring. The plot can derail itself off the tracks completely, but there’s still substance within the main cast.

Gameplay can be unrecognizable from title to title, but that’s exactly what keeps each entry worth revisiting. DDD is better than just another KH title. It has a strong identity and knows exactly what kind of game it is, for better or worse.

Dream Drop Distance didn’t have to derail Kingdom Hearts as hard as it did, but doing resulted in an unforgettable experience– a bridge to Kingdom Hearts III that’s as essential as it is eclectic.

Although not 3DS games, I would like to see the Golden Sun games and Chrono Trigger be released on the Switch.

Fist4achin1833d ago

Yes. We are long overdue for a remastered edition of both of those games.

King_Noctis1833d ago

Or give Chrono Triggers a remake. I would really love to see that.
