Persona 3, Final Fantasy VIII, Valkyria Chronicles, MetalGearSolid(Insert version), Heavy Rain, Journey, Flower...and that's about it for me.

Not exactly. Wait, it said Some of the best games. *sigh* I thought decade. FML.

And You DO have to acknowledge that these are some really brilliant games.

Whether these are good games or not, that's irrelevant to how those games are classics.

Two many to name here, 40 years of pleasures and pains

Plus a lot of failed attempts

It's been amazing seeing the good the bad and the ugly. God I love gaming. 27 years and counting. The only thing I hate now is dlc -____-

The list on that article is like what a museum would pick to put in as 'historically important' after a cursory search on the internet. If you still get excited about Asteroids now- if you ever got excited about Asteroids- there is something wrong with you.

I'll just name from the PS1 onwards so as not to alienate people:

Crash Team Racing (back in the day- don't download it now. It looks hideous on a HDTV') - PS1

Resident Evil 2 - PS1. It seemed slightly better than part 1 and 3 back in the day but nowadays you'd probably prefer playing the Gamecube remake of the first game.

Banjo Kazooie / Donkey Kong 64 / Conker's Bad Fur Day - N64
3 stone cold classics. I don't like Banjo Tooie as much as it is more like an adventure game. DK64 can get very annoying with so much collecting though so BK and Conker are the best choice.

Sonic Adventure 2 - lovely entry from Sega. Puzzle sections can be obscure but the opening stage running away from a truck in San Fransisco is even better than playing Crazy Taxi.

Jet Set Radio Future - Xbox (The Dreamcast game is more historically important obviously but the Xbox game is much more fun).

Resident Evil 4 - I can't believe I'm putting this on here.
It has about 3 puzzles in the entire game. I hate Leon and the trader. Some of the graphics are nowhere near as good as people made them out to be. But it has some brilliant boss battles and always keeps you on your toes.

Eternal Darkness - Gamecube. Just because it's a bit different and dripping with atmosphere even when nothing's happening. A hangover from the N64 though so some of the graphics are not absolutely top notch. Casting spells gets tedious for me too but that's pretty much a lot of the game.

Silent Hill 3 - brilliant as a tech demo for the PS2. Seems old fashioned now but the hospital is scary. In atmosphere it's like Bioshock before Bioshock came out.

Metroid Prime - Gamecube. Just the first one in the series. Really great level design, a platformer at heart with shooting elements.

Half Life 2. I do think it's a little bit overrrated. I think that other games now have much more atmosphere, like Rage. But it is still enjoyable.

Curse of Monkey Island - PC. For the animation and sound. I know that some other Monkey Island games have better script and tougher puzzles.

Uncharted 2 - all of the Uncharteds are good. Some are a bit harsh on part 3 (and far too harsh on part 1). Uncharted 2 is not perfect - the stealth section at the start feels like a hangover from another generation. But the game has a habit of feeling like it's getting better and better right throughout.

Limbo -Xbox360/ PS3. Beautiful platformer and, surprisingly, it's not actually pretentious.

Motorstorm Apocalypse - PS3. Great for online gaming. It could do with more tracks like the high rise ones though.

There is better to come - for 3D gaming at least. Bioshock Infinite. I haven't played Dishonored. For 2D look out for Puppeteer on PS3.

Have you seen the screenshots of the new Limbo? Apparently it won't be ready for a couple more years, but it looks fucking spectacular!
