still getting it. 7.5 isn't a bad score :)

P_Bomb4171d ago

I'm still getting it too, already have all the others. Stealth games are hard to come by.

Hydrolex4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

ATTENTION

The video wasn't supposed to go out today. The video has been taken down.

Some people claim it got 7.5 but the video was taken down immediately so there is a small chance that they could be lying but I don't see a reason why the first few watchers would lie at the same time about a score, so most likely it did get a 7.5 but still video went down.

Hydrolex4171d ago

ALSO don't forget, Gamespot gave Hitman 47 a 5.2 ! LOL

47 was one of the best games I have ever played, and that game is 12 years old

osamaq4171d ago

I hoped for 9... anyway gamespot is the most reliable reviews in the industry...

dafegamer4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

wrong on so many levels they used to be reliable but now they just seem to underrate games to get hits on their site

Venoxn4g4171d ago

about gamespot... yeah riiiiiight :D :D :D

GTRrocker6664171d ago

Gotta love the sarcasm ellipsis...

dasbeer884171d ago

Pfft. Here are a few of Gamespot's "reliable" scores from some games:

InFamous 2: 7.5
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: 7.5

On the other hand, the Call of Duty games get great to superb scores-

Call of Duty: Black Ops: 9.0
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: 9.0
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: 8.5
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2: 8.0

showtimefolks4171d ago

I know people are hating on you for saying gamespot are the best reviewing site IMO also be a since the whole Kane and lynch issue hey have really changed. Also gamespot is the most visited gaming site over taking ign a few months back

So they are a bit harsh but I rather find it what's wrong with the game before hand to better prepare myself.

They gave demon soul GOTY when most other sites didn't have the balls to do the so yeah that day hey earned my respect back. And Jeff is back so why you us are hating on gamespot is beyond me.

7.5 from GS and 62% on pcgamer,i was expecting mediocre game, kinda not surprised.

Derekvinyard134171d ago

im gonna feel disappointing if its not as good or better then blood money, one of the best games ive ever played so much fun with tons of replay value

Oh_Yeah4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

It's all opinion.. I got it early and of what I've played so far I'd give it a 8.5-9, how I rate games is I match it with the best of the same genre..being a stealth game I'm comparing it to deus ex, metal gear, etc. I'd give deus ex an 8, metal gear 4 an 8.5 and Hitman absolution about a 9. My opinion could change as I advance but the gameplay and how npcs interact is pretty solid.

DOMination-4171d ago

Better than DE and MGS4? Big lulz

GTRrocker6664170d ago

I thought Deus Ex HR was better than MGS4. The stealth was better and the story was also. MGS has iconic characters though.

jaymart2k4170d ago (Edited 4170d ago )

While it my not be as good as Blood Money I'm glad it's no Contracts. That game was shit apart from that one mission at the night club. Which is in my top 5 fav missions of all time.

osamaq4170d ago

9 now that what the game deserve

I'm not feeling the gameplay that was shown in this review..Why did they add those Splinter Cell Conviction features?seeing through walls/tag and kill...

Blacktric4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

To appeal to a "broader" audience of course. When all they had to do was make Blood Money 2. I'll probably get it later but whenever I watch a new part from the gameplay, the purchase date just gets pushed further and further.

Nimblest-Assassin4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

I find that weird... didn't they say that only a few people would actually beat the game?

xPhearR3dx4171d ago

Don't see why it really matters. If you're a fan of the old games, just don't use those features.

wanieldiik4171d ago

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can turn off all those features.

ThichQuangDuck4171d ago

I saw a video on joystiq of a purist playthrough and there was point shooting. It seems at times you are forced into point shooting. I am more irked by the cutscene deaths and continuously saying linear parts. Worries me some, I saw Splinter Cells slow decline from its core and based on this it seems Hitman is too. Hitman never needed this focused of a story, I just wanted Blood Money 2 really. The true fun will come from contracts mode it appears

IC3_DEMON4171d ago

I know those features do make the game easier, but it's when only when you play on a lower difficulty will those features be avaiable. I'm playing on expert (1 lower than purist) And here you can only point shoot (Tag and kill) or hide in plain sight. But the Instict bar goes down so quickly that you won't have a chance to use it more than 2 times.

But if it really bothers you, the great thing about the game is that you can just shut off all those features manually in the options menu.

Whitefeather4171d ago

I'm playing it right now, play on the harder difficulties and you won't have any of those features.

Zha1tan4171d ago

you do realise that can be turned off dont you? and its a completely optional feature.

Monstar4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

Just turn it off?

ArchangelMike4171d ago

Got my pre-order on the way. I cannot wait.

On a side note, why does the reviewer sound like he's being forced to read the review. His sarcastic tone is really annoying.

Nimblest-Assassin4171d ago

Its this weird thing with gamespot reviews, their narrations just sound off compared to other sites

Hasanhastam4171d ago

It has better graphic and gameplay but it lose hitman soul and replace with explosive and mindless gunplay! Really disappointed this series is my favorite series and i know 7.5 is not bad but not something fans waiting 6 year!

IC3_DEMON4171d ago

Hasanhastam, don't know if you have the game, but i do, since Friday.
And the game plays how you wanna play. If you wanna go gun's blazin you can if you want to achieve silent assaissin you can. It's all up to you. The devs just gave us a little more room!

Sp1d3ynut4171d ago (Edited 4171d ago )

The same can be said about SC: Conviction...yet it continually got ripped for the same reason. If if it "optional", you can't dilute/compromise the core of a popular franchise without consequences.

But IOI lost their way this gen (Bloodmoney doesn't count, as it was a PS2/XBOX port), so I'm not at all surprised by low review scores for this game.

Pintheshadows4171d ago

You could go guns blazing in Blood Money as well. Dual Silverballer's with full auto and extended clips at the casino was always fun.

rocky0475864171d ago

That's not true. Silent Assassin Ranking comes into play and you cannot go about doing what this reviewer did to attain it. Look at what one user said about it on Gamespot's site: "This video makes it look like a shooter. I've been playing it the stealth way and it still feels like Hitman to me. I wasn't a big fan of SC Conviction and this doesn't feel like it at all the way I'm playing. This is like the video reviews of Dishonored that just seemed to focus on fighting because they thought the stealth would make for more boring visuals. There's no mention of the numerous clever ways to do the hits. If you liked the old ones, you'll like this." and this: "Although Kevin seems to have tried to play it and review it as a shooter. Seems like a completely different experience to the one I've been having. I like the game, so I don't care about a review, but I think they're selling it short making it looks like some action blast-a-thon."

claud34171d ago

Just wondering if it's worth it

claud34171d ago

Will give it more thought and consider it soon

How IO turned Hitman around, from Absolution to World of Assassination

When Hitman 3 recently changed its name to Hitman World of Assassination, fans had no idea how meaningful the moment was. On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.

You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.

Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
