Free To Play. This is a good move! I wonder if the purchase by Disney of Star Wars, has anything to do with this.

wanieldiik4173d ago

this was announced way before disney bought the rights to star wars.

It's less of a good move and more of a desperation move. F2P games and P2P games are built around entirely different models, and making the switch is basically an admission of failure. Right now, they're doing exactly what STO did--trying to recoup their losses as best they can.

TOR did fail that's why it's going F2P

"Free To Play. This is a good move!"

-No sprint and limited quickbar and death.

Sure it sounds like a good move...

Goodbye TORTanic. You won't be missed. Don't forget to take your pathetic biodrones with you.

"Farming is not tolerated in this game..."

Don't forget Disney sees the real value in Star Wars. When they make Episode 7, 8, and 9 their aim will be to capture OT gold cash in. So we could see SW Galaxies 2 come out around then with maybe Star Wars: Knights of the New Republic! :P

"So we could see SW Galaxies 2 come out around then with maybe Star Wars: Knights of the New Republic! :P"

Oh God I hope so.

I'LL SACRIFICE THOUSAND GOATS FOR THAT TO HAPPEN!

Also if it's going to happen, I hope they give KOTOR 3 to Obsidian rather than Biosh*t. Galaxies can be made by any other decent dev out there too as long as it's not Biosh*t or Sony Online whom are the sole reason why Galaxies went to total sh*t towards the end.

SWTOR was built going F2P before it was ever released. I read a story several years ago that Bioware had a backup plan if the P2P model didn't work. I think the only thing that shocked them was the time of how quick it went F2P.

I loved this game and have played since launch but don't let this article fool you, this game is a step above life support. While they are still technically updating the game, the updates are few and far between and there is a significant lack of quality control, so many little bugs that have been present for years.

TheColbertinator386d ago

The updates felt flimsy to me also. Stopped playing in 2021.

Andrew336387d ago

This game got a huge update last year didn't it with more content?

PapaBop387d ago

They promoted it as an expansion yet offered like 3-4 hours of content. The game is amazing and easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made but content drops are so few and far between.
